Even as we were discussing the need for a new more userfriendly GUI at IRCTC, (
https://mouthshut.com/review/Irctc.co.in-108027-1.html )they were busy commissioning a new option 'Quickbook', which combines all the pages visted during Booking earlier to one page.
(I am writing this review as a rejoinder to the 108027-1.)
The new interface, which is essentially a compounding of the many steps into one, gives you the option of filling all the details in one page and book with a single click of 'Quick Book' Button.
This page has got following fields:
From (text)
To (text)
Date (lists)
Class (list)
Train no. (text)
Boarding point (Bda. Pt.)
Radio button for I-Ticket or E-tiecket
Quota Radio button for general, ladies or Tatkal
There is a button below these for Checking avilbility in a popup
Passenger details and berth preferences including sr citizen check box
Auto upgradation check box
Id card details
and Most importantly the payment option selection listbox.
So all the information needed for booking is furnished within a page and you can either 'reset' or 'quickbook'. However the internals of the fields are same and the basic architecture is same as previously existing. The earlier option is of course still availble, however I feel they will do away with that as this new one passes the test of time and usage. (is it 150 already?) Forgive for a hasty one.
