Well 5 yrs back 2 things used to bring India together Bollywood and Cricket. They were seperate entities. But with the advent of IPL this equation changed. With major bollywood stars like SRK owning a cricket team the line between movie and cricket has become non existent. I thought of taking the latest IPL fiasco involving Pak players and SRK. I felt media was seeing only one picture. Shiv sena was against Sharukh. Though I am not in agreement with Shiva sena and their antics I have a couple of queries to Sharukh Khan. Sharukh Khan was the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders and he had freedom to choose Pak players. If he was someone who was not owning any IPL team I would have understood. But he had the authority to make decision and yet he didn't choose them. Once he knew that it has raked a big controversey and Pakistan banned Indian movies he came with his comments.
More than patriotism I felt SRK didn't want to lose the Pak movie market for his yet to be released movie My Name is Khan. And then came Shiv sena with its comments and infact I guess it was what Sharukh wanted. Rake up a controversey. People felt they have to defy sena and went to the movie. Government gave protection to Cinema halls for screening this movie. I am saddened to say while the Police was protecting the finacial interest of a single person who is already a millionaire 13 ppl lost their lives in the blast in German Bakery blast in Pune.
Thanks to media who highlighted only Shivsena's antics and never questioned Sharukh the movie made money. In fact I don't think movie would have got the attention if this whole controversey was not raked as we all know what Karan Johar movies are like. Dragging, too much emotions and tears and glorified NRI life.Guess media needs to wake up and report views in a balanced manner and not for TRPs. Doing this they are again and again fooling the public who cannot see through their tactics. Thanks to IPL My name is Khan is a hit.
