The present Indian team is the best so far. The recent victories in Australia, Pakistan, England and West Indies prove this. The way they plays proves that they are confident and have the aggression and desire to win. The twenty players that may be chosen for the next series are rated below. The points are given in the brackets at the end of te paragraph.
1) Saurav Ganguly (Captain) - Indian team can't have a better captain than this man. He is the captain with most victories abroad. He supports his bowlers and young players well. He is a commanding force in the field. He takes good decisions which change the path of the match. He is an extra ordinary player on the off-side and a big hitter against spin bowling. His only difficulty is in facing fast bouncing delivers. [9/10]
2) Rahul Dravid (Vice Captain) - This man known as the wall is the most stable batsman in the Indian team. Even if he doesn't play big hits too often he has the ability to find boundaries and to take singles and doubles. He is India's most successful batsman overseas. [8/10]
3) Parthiv Patel (Wicket Keeper) - This young man has got a lot of talent. He has proved it both a wicket keeper and as a batsman. He has taken some sensational catches so far even if he drops a lot. [6/10]
4) Virender Shewag - This man is a powerful hitter of the cricket ball. He hits the ball too powerfully that it's difficult to catch. The ball reaches the boundary in seconds. He is a risky player, but produces good results. [8/10]
5) Sachin Tendulkar - The master blaster has proved to be a legendary player in his long career and is waiting for more. Centuries may be waiting to come from that bat as long as he produces them. I don't think there is any need to say more about this historic player. [9/10]
6) Yuvraj Singh - This man is a rising star in the Indian team. He is a great fielder and a good runner between the wickets. His ability to play big hits is a proved one. He strengthens the Indian middle order. [8/10]
7) VVS Laxman - This man had been out of the Indian team for a long time. But now he is an essential part of the Indian team. He has got a lot of good starts. If he can convert them into big scores, Indians will reach a big total. [7/10]
8) Mohammed Kaif - This one is the most aggressive runner between the wicket and fields better than anyone in the world. His throws are accurate and his wrist work is superb. He strengthens the Indian batting line up more. [7/10]
9) Hemang Badani - This guy had been getting in and out of the team. But he is a good timer of the ball and a nice fielder. He needs a little more opportunity to prove himself to the selectors. [5/10]
10) Irfan Pathan - This guy holds the key of the door to the new era of Indian pace bowling. He is accurate and bowls aggressively. He can also bat a bit to save the team whenever asked from him. [7/10]
11) Ajit Agarkar - This player had been staying out of the Indian team for the last One Day series against Pakistan. Now it's the time for him to come back. He can stay in the team if he is consistent. He is a class player with a lot of ability in both batting and bowling. He is a great outfielder too. [7/10]
12) Zaheer Khan - He missed the test series against Pakistan due to injury. He had been bowling brilliantly in the last World Cup. If he maintain his line and length and avoid unnecessary aggression, he can reach new heights. [8/10]
13) Lakshmipathy Balaji - The new pace bowler of India who has proved his importance in the side. He swings the ball well and can play big hits over the ropes when the circumstances arise. [7/10]
14) Anil Kumble - This is the one person who had been in the Indian team for a long time with his leg spin. He is the only bowler to take ten wickets for India in one innings. He proved his importance in the team in the recent series against Pakistan. [8/10]
15) Murali Karthik - This guy got in the team in the absence of Harbhajan Singh due to an injury. He is a good bowler who can bat a bit, but still I think that he will not be in the team when Harbhajan comes back. [5/10]
16) Harbhajan Singh - Every one is looking forward for the return of this man after injury. We can only wait for his come back. His bowling really has given Indian spin bowling a status in the world. [7/10]
17) Ashish Nehra - He is a good bowler when the conditions favour him. But he is a pathetic fielder and can't bat for atleast some period. He has accuracy, but lacks consistency upto an extent. [5/10]
18) Rohan Gavaskar - Rohan has played good cricket whether he is batting, bowling or fielding. He has so far played his part well. But there is still a long way ahead of him. [6/10]
19) Amit Bhandari - This guy needs a little more opportunity. He cannot be judged from the very less opportunities he got so far. He surely can do something for his team when given a chance. [5/10]
20) Romesh Powar - He is a good spinner who can bat when required from him. He needs more opportunities to prove his ability and get a regular place in the current Indian team. [5/10]
