Sorry for the slightly sarcastic title.
so im back after my 2 year exile from mouthshut, but I had to make a brief mention about the indian cricket team and their recent incredible performances at the World cup, I swear they're gettin better by the day! LOL!.
anyway jokes apart, im normally wrong when predicting a team's fate in any tournament but however why is it that I am never wrong about the indian team. Why is it that they have so many talented players, but when they come together they play like a bunch of muppets.
i for one couldnt be more happier that a bunch of overhyped good for nothing cricketers got what they exactly deserved, a spanking by real talented players(bangladesh) and a slap in the face by sri lanka. It just makes me laugh that india are now relying on the worst team in the world to help them qualify tommorow. I think it will be best that all indians pray that bermuda dont beat bangladesh, after all if I was in indian supporter, I would rather have them eliminated than qualify with the help of bermuda.
Anyway I thought I would carry out a more detailed analysis of why the indian cricket team is so crap and why they have been so pathetic in this world cup
reason numero uno - The Players
ok so where do I begin, lets start with sehwag, I remember when I went to india in 2001 and watched a really overweight guy pummel new zealend in a triangular series tournament. instantly I saw flashes of the new sachin tendulkar. six years on and all he has done is made more coca cola or pepsi(im not sure) commercials, and gained more weight. somebody should tell him we're playing cricket not baseball, so he can stop swinging his bat like sammy sosa all the time. howevevr I think this guy has had three strikes to many. he might as well stick to the commercials.
as for robin hood, no offence but he just seems like another wannabe sehwag, besides from the fact that his footwork is far better, he's not patient enough and he's too attack minded.
as for the master blaster himself, I love to watch him play when he is at his best. I always believed that he is the best batsmen in the world at the moment, and up their with bradman and mr richards. however my opinion of him has changed, many people debate whether tendulkar is better than lara, the fact remians that he is not better than lara or even steve waugh and ricky ponting, and the reason for that being is that these batsman will produce the goods at the right time, and at the right place, they never fail to produce in crucial matches and that is what sets them apart from mr tendulkar. they are the tru "greats" of the game but tendulkar will remain as simply one of the "best". and his 3 ball majestic innings yesterday was the biggest evidence you could use to support this statement.
and now for ganguly. was in decent form before coming into this tournament and can be reliable in turning the screw in any match. but he's also reliable for being quite stupid at times, which is why he is never really truly appreciated, I couldnt understand why he made that shot as their was simply no need for it. I think yesterday was his chance to prove his critics wrong, had he put on a better performance, a billion people would be worshipping him right now. however I think ganguly is one of the players who will stick around the team for a bit longer, and the captaincy should be handed back if india dont deliver in the test arena.
as for mr dependable, forget it, he's not dependable at all. yes he made a fifty yesterday, but so what they guy has no passion and no firepower to invigorate the rest of the team. as for the way he got out yestereday, it was completely bemusing, considering we needed another 100 runs. the wall is collapsing, and quite frankly who gives.
as for yuvraj, certainly talented, an outstanding fielder, quality batsman, but suffers from a very common indian illness, yes its called the "too-overhyped" syndrome, and looks like he will last only 2-3 more years as the illness is known to get worse.
as for dhoni - who's this guy, since when do the indian cricket team allow supermodels to play for them. the guy's fashion sense is outstanding, but his cricket sense is craptastic(a play on the words crap and fantastic, just in case you ddint get it).
as for our bowlers, there's nothing to say, munaf is nothing great, harbhajan is a one series wonder(ind-aus 2001), and agarkar is just agarkar. zaheer works extremely hard for the team, but working hard is not enough, he's too expensive and too inconsistent. I honestly dont see what the difference would have been had pathan played. but however I just have one question which I am surprised nobody else has brought up, why exactly wasnt sreesanth playing? their most inform bowler was left out in all three matches. I just dont get it, just what the hell was chappell thinking.
reason numero deux - Lack of passion in the team
lets face it when it comes to having pride and passion, the indian cricket team are far behind the likes of the aussies and even the english. their's no fight in them and nothing that drives them on. u watch them when fielding agaisnt bangladesh, and they all looked so pathetic, seemingly looking wasted, and out of options, even when bangladesh needed so many more runs to win. WHERE'S THE FIREPOWER!
reason 3(sorry I would say numero trois, but I dont think numero is french for number)
so any hoo what could be reason 3. lack of concentration. somebody should give them a boot in the backside and tell them to stop with the silly commercial ads and focus more on their bloody cricket. but then again their is no law to stop sportsman and woman to stop earning money in the commercial world. so in the end greed is the winner while poor old indian cricket loses out.
reason 4 - too much hype(doesnt take a genius to figure that out)
our some of our players talented? of course they are. but are they as talented as we make them out to be? the answer is - never in a million years. this my friends is a very common disease with indian sportsman and woman, just ask our indian cricket team, and our oh-so talented underacheiving sania mirza who by the way "is so talented, and so young she will win a grand slam one day(in neverland)". now im not a sociologist or a psychologist, but I am pretty sure its called
the overhyped syndrome, for which the common cure is to insert brains into media members and tell them not to give our stars a godly status. and stop talking about them 24-7, give them some damn room to breathe why dont you. seriously down here in uk, I watch zee news, and the obsession with the team is out of control, one minute they make them seem like demigods, and one second theyre on the backs like a pack of wolves when they lose. yet they always do a u-turn and seem to be under the misconception that these guys will take indian cricket to the verge of cricketing supremacy. please dont make me laugh. after the icc trophy and WC debacle, theyre the laughing stock of the world.
