I request everyone to watch India's Daughter, if you haven't already seen it. It shows the mentality of chauvinistic men of our society who think the life of a woman is confined in the four walls of the house. She is nothing but a pound of flesh. The documentary is scary. I got the chills while watching it. Being in jail has not changed the view of these rapists. According to them, they committed no crime. What sort of inhumane mentality is this!
I was happy to see that some of the celebrities like Kirron Kher, Javed Akhtar and Jaya Bachchan voiced their opinion on this documentary in the parliament. Imagine if a man can think so low after being punished for that crime in a prison, what could he do when he's free! The thought itself is frightening.
However I do disagree with the director on certain aspects(not what she showed in the movie but what she said in her interviews) - "this is a sick society". You cannot stereotype a society based on the judgement of a few prudes. Yes, people like that rapist and those lawyers exist but why blame the whole society. It is changing, else we wouldn't have had those youngsters rally for justice.
Also, one more thing that I'd like to point is the questions were not shown. What were the questions asked? Answers totally depend on the asked questions. If you are showing reality, then be totally open about it.
The patriarchial culture which gives no importance to a woman is being blamed. Women should be treated as equals, only then will a girl child be safe. Men should be taught how to treat women. Isn't that a part of good ethics anyway?
