YOU HAVE MAIL SIR ...... Review on Incredimail

Fed up with dull dreary Outlook Express? Then here is just the replacement you need.

Incredimail is a totally free stand-alone email client that will happily take over from dull out Outlook.

Incredimail has all the functions you are used to in Outlook, plus lots more additions too, packed with colourful stationary, animations, sounds and notifiers all of which I will tell you about further on.

To download simply go to https://incredimail.com, and here you can also see a demo so you can decide if you want this programme and see how it works before downloading, the download itself it 4.66mb so can take quite a while depending on traffic but mine actually only took about 30 minutes.

Once up and running the programme sits in your bottom taskbar ready for action, you also have a choice when setting it up whether or not to make it your default email client.

First appearances you will think it is the same as Outlook only more modern and stylish, it still has the folders , address book which can import all your addresses from other email programs, plus the usual send/receive and delete buttons.

Incredimail is easy to set up and can manage all your existing email accounts with the exception of AOL and Hotmail.

This is very simple to set up and I recommend you go for the manual option, this is found on the top toolbar, simply add your existing email address, your password and Incredimail will add all the necessary settings, and your ready to use it.

You can also set the intervals to check for mail and incoming mail progress is displayed at the top right in a box, which also displays the current time.

Now the best bits the features that make Incredimail rather superior to its friends.

Writing A New Mail

Clicking on this on top toolbar will not only bring up a blank email but also your style box alongside and this feature allows you to enhance your plain old emails in the following ways:

Letters:

A vast amount of backgrounds for your mail, these are all stored in your style box in categorys for easy reference, ranging from cats, butterflys, elegant papers, moods and lots more, you simply select one thats appropriate for your mail and its added .

Animations:

----------------

Again directly from your style box a host of wacky fun animated creatures, romantic icons, smiley’s etc, these can be added to your email as stand alone or to a pre-chosen background for added effect.

Sounds:

------------

Add a little extra something to your mail, from a girly giggle to a romantic kiss or even a huge explosion, guaranteed to make your mail recipients notice you!

Ecards:

A very useful option, here you can store cards for every occasion, pre-selected from the site and send as needed, the excellent feature here is that your recipients can view the card as an email, no need to load it from a link to a site, instant!.

All the above four are already in your style box when you first run the programme, however you only get a few in each, but by clicking on your style box or taskbar icon you are taken to the Incredimail gallery, and here you will hundreds more of each to add to your own style box, simply select your chosen and add and its yours to keep.

Plus there is a daily gallery with new additions every day so you never run short of ideas.

Recorder:

Clicking this on your new mail opens a small box with record, play and stop, here you can record with the help of a microphone your very own personal message to attach to your email.

Also Included is a working demo of a letter creator, this allows you to design your own letters, from backgrounds to 3D effects.

Or fancy adding your own personal signature in your own handwriting?, now this looked good but I was easily beaten by it!, the idea is a grid comes up and you then navigate your mouse and write your name or whatever to be used as a signature on emails, well after numerous attempts at creating something that looked like a 2 year old had done , I gave up and used a pre-selected font instead, but don't let me put you off, have a bash and let me know how you get on!.

Of course your mail also includes the normal font styles and colours, plus a handy spell checker too!

Now you have finally created your new email, time to send it, again you can add even to the send and receive experience, you can make your mail vannish as a paper plane or a puzzle or even as shattering glass, with sound effects to match.

The same effects can be set up for your incoming mail too.

Notifier:

Avery unusual addition, a bit along the lines of your old office assistant, the notifier will tell you when you have new mail to view, again these are changeable from the tools option, and more are available on the web site, for example mines a dog, and when mail arrives, my dog appears on screen clutching an envelope in it's mouth and barks at me to make sure I've noticed it!, sounds strange I know but effective believe me as its that annoying it makes you read your mail in order to make the doggy vanish!.

Or If you don’t fancy a dog, there are others ranging from robots, to talking mailboxes and even a very posh sounding butler who serves your mail on a tray and says You Have Mail Sir...

So all this is free for you to download and use, however there is a premium Incrediamil priced at $29.95 this gives you free updates for a year and more letters, notifiers etc.

However I see no reason to shell out for this as the free version has all you need, plus there are lots of user sites for letters, animations and the like which all work on Incredimail, in fact you can add any you come across yourself to your style box and these will work!

So all in all an excellent programme, shame about the non-compatibility with Hotmail and AOL, as I use both of those, but If like me you do use other email addresses then its worth it.

Plus good news for mail round mailman users, it works on this!!!!....
