Moview Review : In Time
This is an amazing concept. If Hollywood keeps up to it, especially after Inception, it might just about stumble upon godhood. Who knows? Anyway, this is just great. Living on borrowed time, stolen time, and you know, if you stretch the karma theory enough, it could be the discovery of the millennium. You have your own time on earth, but you do bad, good, whatever it takes to buy time, and then just become a time bomb billionaire. Amazing imagination, very close to the karma and bank of actions, only, since it’s Kalyug, the bad guys make all the moolah out of buying time and emerges victorious.
So, Justin Timberlake can act and also sing. And while PC over here has taken to song, Justin over there has started to act. Hey, ask me more secrets!! So, the movie spins around at jet speed. I can feel that readers want me to review Don 2 too so that they can follow the movie; if at all!! What a pity that in trying to keep up with international IQ, our SRK has probably lost out on the local junta. I hope not though.
This movie has a lot of reality in it. Our life spans are really shortening, so the fact that we will get to live till only 25 comes as no surprise. But in the last year, if you can steal time, add valuable hours to your life, then you’ve got it made. The movie is chillingly real. People donate time, like money in the movie. They steal time, like money, and they bank on and make banks of time. Wow, what if, just what if things do turn out this way?
So, clearly the paradigm has shifted. From the value of money, people, like in reality are just buying time. While your enemies might want to delay every possible event in your life, you try every possible way for them to lose time, if not time, then at least their health. It’s show clearly in the movie for discerning viewers that things like a romance, sex, drinking, and generally bumming out are very good for health; they add to your years, while worldly life, work, passionate engagements with your profession, just cut down the years.
So, Justin in the movie watches his mum, who is younger than his gf, die in her 25th year. Everything seems to be running out of time, as he says, he’s always lived in the present moment, or to be more generous, at one day a time. But he and his accomplice, both partners in crime, break loose, and all hell breaks loose, with a time bank felony, and so many smaller crimes adding up to a million dollar currency in time. And there’s a time casino, time murders, time banks, time love, time death, and amazing, time currency.
There are no geographical borders, but time borders. You pay heftily in time; a car drive across borders can take 1000s, and well, a love affair can give you million time hours on this earth. So, time runs in your veins, time runs in your family, time runs your business, and time runs out a lot. The starlet opposite Timberlake looks a lot like Kalki Koechlin, but is too young for a full fledged movie role, just as Avika Gaur is too young to be wearing sarees and playing a bahu etc in serials. The music is racy, fitting the pace of the movie, and JT, well, he was just on a song right through. Must watch, maybe even twice!!!
