I-Proud to be an Indian is an out-n-out action flick, which brings to light the racism, still prevalent in U.K. Though the theme is alien for Indian cinegoers, it exists in reality.

The Story

The story is all about how Sohail Khan tries to bring an end to racism in U.K. The story revolves around Sohail Khan, who is on a visit to U.K., his father, Kulbushan Kharbanda, his bade bhaiya, Asif Sheikh, his bhabhi, Mona Ambegaonkar, their two children, Sohail's sweetheart Heena Tasleem and her brother. The story isn't a typical Hindi film story, and so it wouldn't fit well with the average cinegoers.

Sohail discovers that the Asian families are living a terrified life thanks to the local skinheads. The dreaded Cane, the leader of the skinheads, believes that their country England is being taken over by the Asian community. He hates any other skin colour other than white. Sohail Khan decides to fight for his rights, and beats up some skinheads and in turn they all retaliate, and start attacking his father, niece and nephew....

Performances

Overall performance was superb. Sohail Khan looked great, macho as he always is. Kulbushan Kharbanda, Mona Ambegaonkar, Asif Sheikh, Tim Lawrence all did a good job. Puneet Sira proves his point as a director. His style of storytelling is novel. He doesn't beat around the bush, and comes to the point straightaway.

Review

The film does well in proving its point. It raises a patriotic feeling amongst the viewers. Cinematography is quite good. Dialogues are superb. Though there isn't much scope for songs or romantic moods, the film includes these as well, but doesn't let the topic change. The film is quite violent and might not be enjoyed by the weak-hearted, but the triumph of Indians at the end leaves the viewers feeling good. The climax is shot well and the pace is maintained throughout the film. The film also does well in promoting Indo-Pak relationship. The viewers definitely will feel proud to be an Indian at the end of the film!!!
