True, the car is a bit dated, making its debut in the nineties, but it is still a good buy if you are buying a new car.
Santro has it all - good looks, extremely reliable, good ride, good handling, good aircon, good service network(though quality of service varies from service centre to service centre) and reasonably good fuel efficiency.
The tall boy design suits makes entry and exit very easy for the passengers and provides good all round visibility for the driver.
The space inside is best in the class. The Ritz is better, but is a costlier car. At less than four lakhs ex-showroom for the top end model the Santro gives a good bang for your buck. The Wagon R is of course equally good, but has a look that many people don't like. The i-10 is also a good car but costlier than the Santro with similar features.
The new cars the Figo, Micra, Beat and Punto are excellent cars, but are costlier than the Santro. Also but for Fiat, which has a tie up with Tata, none of the other manufacturers Ford, Nissan and Chevrolet have managed to set up a nationwide service network. And service is very important for cars and should be kept in mind foremost.
For those looking for a budget car that gives peace of mind for year after year can go for the Santro.
