Recently I purchased the Hyundai Santro Xing XG Model after spending a lot of time studying reviews on 3 shortlisted cars - Santro Xing, Maruti Zen, Fiat Palio. Mouthshut was an important source for my reviews. Thanks to MOUTHSHUT.
Finally I settled for Santro Xing. In the final analysis choosing a car is a gut feeling.
Reviews are both positive and negative. If there was only one true picture then Merc Maybach wouldn't be rated as one of the top 5 worst cars somewhere in Mouthshut. Or for that matter Santro also was rated by one as one of the 5 worst car.
But what I think of the Santro Xing that I purchased. In short EXCELLENT. It is a driver's car. Let me list what I consider and found great about this car.
Looks - this is a personal taste and I don't think there can be one opinion on this. I love its look esp. the Xing. Its attractiveness seem to be growing on you as days go by.
Comfort - Very easy to get in and out esp. for a tall person. The seat can be also reclined. It is very roomy in the front seat. The AC works well and cooling is quite good. The steering column does not transmit the roughness of the road and the feel is smooth. The wheels, tyres and suspension manages well on bad roads.
Drive quality - Smooth, quick pick-up, quiet. The gear shift is also very smooth.
You don't have to press the accelerator very hard. Just a simple touch with the foot zooms the car to speeds of 80 - 100 kph. The brakes are also very responsive. The drive quality is also good with the AC on. Parking into spaces is very easy esp. useful in cities.
- Features - The XG version is loaded with good and valuable features - Power
Steering, Central locking, Power Windows, High Mounted Stop Lamp, Internally adjustable ORVM, Under Driver seat Tray, Day-Night Rear View mirror, Body colored bumper.
All positive and no negative would not present the complete and right picture. Yes there are some negatives -
- The gear stick vibrates and so for those used to keeping their hand on the gear
stick it may be a little irritating.
To some the looks may be negative.
The back seat ride may not be as comfortable over bad roads.
Overall Santro Xing is one of the best cars in its segment. Hyundai has made an impact on the India Automobile buyers with cars of quality, good service and attractive pricing. I strongly recommend the Xing if
you are tall and want the comfort of easily getting into the car.
drive mostly in the city.
do not often make trips to the airport/railway stations to pickup relatives with lot
of luggage
your family size is not more than four persons.
you need to do a lot of manevouring for parking
then this is the car for you.
I have also found that all mouthshut members who have reviewed the Xing have given it a positive rating. Wish them all a wonderful experience with their Xing and enjoy it.
For all those planning to buy a B segment car then ''BRING THE XING''
