Unlike others I bought this vehicle because my wife who is an interior designer like the looks of Elantra. I suggested the Crdi Diesel version. We bought it in September 2005. Superb vehicle feels like having a low ground clearence but gets smoothly over most speed breakers. I have travesed around 8000 kms in it. Best thing about it is the superb pick up and smooth ride. Cabin noise is a little bit on the higher side(Tyre Sound), but can easily be cut off by listening to the cd player. Since I have the diesel Elantra, it requires regular check-ups, especially on the battery and electrical side. The reason is that all the systems ABS, Engine Analyser, Heater Plug etc are controlled electronically. I had a few heart stopping moments when suddenly the indicators on the dashboard went dead, at that time the car just went dead, only the wheels spinnings. Thankfully the indicators went on after a few seconds. I guess all cars in this segment have the same systems and they should design a system wherin basic systems of cars in this segment are not so fragile.
Otherwise it is a superb vehicle which can take you places both status and comfort wise.
