I have just bought an Elantra GLS - what a car, and amazing value for money.
But it's not selling in India you say? Well, that was because they had introduced this car in an incorrect pricing segment at around 10L. Now they have fixed this. The lowest version of the car is available at just under 7 lacs ex showroom! The GLS is 8 lacs ex showroom.
Let me tell you the pros of this car (the GLS):
The price - this is a car that competes with corolla and skoda, but at a lower price
The brand - hyundai is dependable and is here to stay in India.
Servicing - hyundai has a great service network
The comfort - spacious, very comfortable as driver and passenger
The value adds - this is the big Plus - the car has abs, airbags, traction control, 8 cd changer, automatic climate control, to name a few
The drive - smooth as silk, power is great, suspension beautiful
the looks - very stylish car with chrom grill, nice interiors
lots of other small nice things like sunglass holder, adjustable height of sterring, rear arm rest, cupholders, computer that calculates how many kms your car will go with current fuel levels, huge boot space, alloy tubeless tyres, nice dash lights...the list goes on and on
The negatives (or rather the nuetral things)
the fuel efficiency - gives about 9-9.5 kmpl which is not bad considering a 1.8L engine
when accelarating, their is a slight lag in the first and second gear. this baby really picks up power from the 3rd gear onwards
