I20 CRDI MAGNA after 40,000 kms. Review on Hyundai i20

I am new to Mouthshut. I just read the reviews and was just laughing because most of the reviews were given by the bare minimum used car owners. I use a car for minimum 1 lakh kms and sell it. So I thought of giving a clear idea about all aspects and issues what I had in my car.

I am not blaming anybody. I was really searching for a review which contains the real aspects such as maintenance cost, tank fill to tank fill mileage ( which is the original mileage ) etc.. I could not get it properly.

Coming back to the review I bought this car from Suriyabala hyundai, coimbatore, tamil nadu on 16th june 2010. As usual dealer was not able to keep his promise on delivery. Any way they managed.

I selected this car after getting fed up with indica vista quadrajet (my previous car). and seeing a long long waiting period for swift dzire.

The pros are steady and stable at high speeds. very very light steering which feels very comfortable in city driving. Ac is good and enough for city like Coimbatore may not be enough for chennai or other areas with hot climate. spacious for 5 adults. ground clearance is ok till now I have not hit any bumps. Braking is awesome magna model doesn't have abs still it is good.

Mileage....18 kms on highway with full Ac with a speed between 90 - 120kmph. 13 kms in city with Ac was my best mileage when it was new. later the story was different.

service...first free service ......zero bill

second service.....@ 10000 kms - Rs. 5000

Third service....@ 20000 Kms - Rs. 5000

Fourth service @ 30000 Kms - Rs.10050

Tire worn out changed @ 32000 kms - bridge stone upsize tyre - Rs.20000 (set of four)

Intermediate problem like brake shoe and small steering issues....@35000 kms - Rs.2200

Fifth service @ 40000 kms - Rs. 6500

Negatives

Pickup...1 and 2 gear has no initial vroooooooom pickup. Long drives no issues but in city conditions you will die... I have complaint to service people they gave a new vehicle for test drive but no use it was same...after a certain period of time the engine pick up went further more down say after 30000 kms so it was pathetic to drive. I got severe knee pain after driving this vehicle in long run. want to try the poor pick up take your vehicle to a hill station with 5 adults and see the pick up....it just gets 1 gear in every turning... reverse the car in hill station drop all the passengers and then reverse...that is the idea...

I drive 30000 kms in a year my regular driving cycle is around 100 kms a day. Now a days I feel tireds of driving this car due to pickup. Regular check ups and service didn't help me in this issue. Now the mileage in highways is 15.4 and in city it is around 11. The major service will be in 60000 kms in which the clutch will be replaced at a high price. High priced, no pickup, avg mileage with high maintenance cost is i20 diesel. I dont suggest anybody to by this vehicle. Will be in touch after every service.
