Hunterrr gets a first impression from its poster and publicity to be a very vulgar, gross and cheap comedy flick. However, the movie is something novel, little vulgar(less than my imaginations) and more entertaining than expected.
Movie also throws light on the child molestation. It's crew succeeds to pull of the act to bolster the distinction between lust and love. So, if you cannot distinguish between the two, then go watch it. Mandar and his friends, from childhood, get into the habit of pursuing girls for sexual pleasure. They keep exploring new ways to meet their sexual needs which Mandar compares to the need of going to the loo in the opening scene of the movie. According to him, "Koi Sex/Sandaas se pakta hai kya?".
Thus, he fails to give up the habit even when he grows up unlike the other two of his friends who marry and also advice him to settle down.
One day drunk Mandar tries to hit on a college girl in bar and ends up being beaten by his friends. He realises that he is becoming "Uncle" as called by those boys in the club and thus, finally decides to marry. However, many girls reject him because of his past vaasugiri. Finally, when he meets Trupti, he masquerades himself as "doodh ka dhula" but realises that he should have not done so.
Does Mandar and Trupti's new relationship work out? Could trupti ever know about Mandar's past? Does Mandar changes himself or remains Vaasu for the rest of the life? For this you need to watch this movie at the earliest at a cinema near you.
Hunterrr is a situational comedy that may make you laugh on the very grave scene on which you shouldn't have and I think pulling it off is no easy feat. So the execution and cast performance forms the best part of the movie.
The Soul of a movie is in the execution of script. It could have been a disaster had there been little mistakes on the directorial part. But, he faired with flying colours making it one of the best directorial venture on the year, till date. Director Harshavardhan Kulkarni has presented a masterpiece.
The concept of the movie makes it essential to dive into the past of the character to highlight over his present actions. Thus, the story keeps movie moving back and forth in time. One may loose the track with what is happening in the present time but it makes little difference. Not only in time, but at some places movie shows the imagination of the character first and than the actual incidence making one roll on the floor. That scuba diving adventure into the dirty past of the Mandar makes the direction one of its kind and it would not be wrong if someone would say that it might earn a cult status very soon.
The Cast is one of the strong pillars on which this movie's success stands. Gulshan Devaiya as Mandar urf Vaasu has good potential and is nice actor to watch out for. He has done justice to his role. Even after protraying a cheap character he succeeds to win sympathy of the audience in many scenes. I would like to see him more in Bollywood movies. His performance can be compared to Divyanshu Sharma(Liquid) of Pyar ka Punchnama fame. Radhika Apte as Trupti is fabulous. Her performance it par with Gulshan Devaiya. Sai Tamhankar as Jyotsna Bhabhi enacted a sizzling performance surging the mercury in the thermometer. Veera Saxena has also done justice to her role.
Sagar Deshmukh as Dilip urf Yusuf is like Sauce on the Maggi. Rachel Dsouza has small role but erected a decent act. All child actors are hilarious and watch out for.
As the movie is based on the character of maharashtrians of Mumbai, dialogues are mostly in Hindi and at some places Marathi and English are also used. Dialogues of the movie are very bold. But censor board has not pardoned it. Few words were censored. But that does not effect the flow and one can easily guess from the lip movements.
Movie has got very nice songs. Chori Chori is the best of the lot and the only one easily searchable on the internet. There is a song "Dil Lagaana" sung by Altaf Raja also. So cheers to all Altaf Raja fans. All songs are well incorporated in the script and choreographed excellently. It would be worth listening them once.
If we are too talk about the scenes, the following sequences are the best ones in the decreasing order of laughter quotient.
The adult movie theatre and the following day school sequence, the climax, shopping market sequence in which Radhika tells Mandar to hit on the women buying lingeries, The dance at the birthday party of Mandar's friend, the sequence where Mandar as a child proposes to a girl, the climax.
On the whole, Hunterrr does not have even a single moment of boredom. It is definitely not a movie for under 18. And also might not impress the oldies. But, it is nothing less than Scuba diving for youngsters, especially bachelors, and thus, I strongly recommend to watch this in groups. But Bhaisaab, Family ke saath jaane ki galti mat karna.
