Director Sajid Khan returns after a gap of an year with the film Humshakals, which promises to be a laughathon. The music plays an important role in comedies, if sewed well into the narrative. For the first time, Sajid Khan entrusts the music department to Himesh Reshammiya and one expects nothing less than a chartbusting score from the popular composer, who had a very successful beginning to the year with the music of'The Xpose'. There are multiple lyricists on board too and expectations are good from the soundtrack. With six originals and no remixes or reprise versions, it is a surprising move, especially considering Himesh at the helm, who prefers fully loaded albums.
The album kicks off on a good note with the weirdly titled Caller tune, sung by Neeraj Sridhar and Neeti Mohan. Right from the beginning, there is a very catchy feel to the song with a beat which plays on throughout the song's duration. Sameer writes the lyrics, which do not make much sense, but goes well with the mood of the track. Neeraj and Neeti are the perfect choices and compliment each other very well which adds to the vibe. Neeti goes for a husky rendition, which sounds different from her previous outings.Expect the song to be in the charts for some time at least.

Next up is Piya Ke Bazar, with the vocals of Himesh Reshammiya, Shalmali Kholgade and Palak Mucchal. As the track begins, there is a sense of deja-vu as Himesh has used the same kind of arrangements in many songs before(Chalao Na Naino se of Bol Bachchan, Jaave Saari Duniya of Shortcut Romeo etc). But thankfully, the tune is good and has an old world charm. Shabbir Ahmed writes entertaining lyrics which suit the celebratory mood of the song. Himesh is not in full form here and a better rendition would have lifted the track some more while Shalmali Kholgade and Palak Mucchal do complete justice imparting sweetness to their parts. It's a total 'massy' song which would be lapped up in the hinterlands.

As Look Into My Eyes begins, it surprises because this is a total 'non -Himesh' like music. It has a club feel to it and Sameer's sugary lyrics are impressive. Ash King keeps his vocals simple and sings in his usual octave, never trying to do anything more than needed. In hindsight, this is a romantic track and if one removes the beats and goes for a simple arrangement, it would have still made for a lovely song. Neeti Mohan delivers big time yet again, and people will surely love her lines, especially "Yeh dil hua faraar.". As pointed out earlier, the arrangements, the tune and the singing are very unlike Himesh's style and this fresh attempt by him deserves a few brownie points. One more chartbuster.

Barbaad Raat begins with an interesting theme piece before trumpets take over. Sanam Puri and Shalmali Kholgade get behind the mike with Himesh Reshammiya chipping in with a few lines. The lyrics by Sameer have a situational appeal, but the tune is very youth friendly which will be instantly liked. Sajid Khan's influence is more than visible, as songs in a similar zone existed in Housefull and Housefull 2 as well. The singing is fine with Shalmali stealing the show. The track has good potential and will pick up more once the video is out.

It is Himesh behind the mike for Hum Paagal Nahi Hai with Mayur Puri writing the https://lyrics. The beginning itself gives ample proof of things to come, as this one surely will be a laugh riot on screen. The tapori beat is used throughout and though there is nothing innovative in the arrangements, the amusing lyrics, entertaining tune and the highly spirited singing makes it a good hear. Himesh does complete justice to the genre of the song, and his expressive singing is just what is needed in a song like this. Expect the track to bring the house down on the big screen. Once again, the Gen X will definitely be humming this song!

The last track is Khol De Khidki and the composer keeps the comic, light hearted quotient in the arrangements quite high again. Shabbir Ahmed writes some passable lyrics and the track does not quite work in the overall scheme of things and ends up as an average number with high situational appeal. Mika Singh sleepwalks through his rendition and even sounds dis interested. It required energetic and lively vocals, and Mika's nasheela voice does not quite suit the track. Someone like a Shaan would have been a better choice.Palak Mucchal does a decent job, but cannot quite save this average track.

Right from the beginning, it is a soundtrack high on entertainment with no dull moments. The tunes are youth friendly and catchy. At least five tracks have the potential to be chartbusters, and with the right kind of promotion, they will find their rightful place. Perhaps for the first time after Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Himesh has created such a sprightly, perky album. The big plus for the music here is the youth connect and coupled with the big star cast of the film, it will do well and ensure that the movie takes a good opening.
