HSBC was out salary account bank while working with NORTHERN TRUST. Reason? HSBC is the local cuatodian in China Japan and other south east Asian bank. While using this bank around the year 09-12 there was only 2 ATM ALL OVER BANGALORE. yea, that is sad. Also number of transactions in other ATM was limited too. This was the first bank where I didnt get an receipt for depositing cash/ cheque. I ended up praying to God all the time I used their service.
Online transactions: For most of the websites the option for transacting online was not available where so many lesset known banks had the options. I dont know if it is still the same.
Finally NT gave us an option to use any bank of our choice to be user as a salary account.I was glad and I changed it.
The bad experience didn't end there.I applied for a car loan with SBI who declined saying that my Cbill shows I owe 49000 to HSBC. I call the hsbc and they confirmed that I owe a credit card bill to them??. too bad, the first credit card I took was from HDFC which was after a long time I left NT. I asked them to check it to be an accounting error of some kind instead they sent me a bill. complete nonsense they also sent few guys ( goon looking collection agents who sternly and me to settle the amount)
my fight and argument continued with them finally I asked them will see in consumer court, to which he replied " sir, no use goin to consumer court, nothing will happen" hearing that I slammed to door an sent a warning mail to HSBC not to make such actions and to provide a single proof that I took a credit card or my signature on the receipt after purchase. else I will take a legal action.
Working in a bank I come across a lot of neglegence on banks side where a lot of manual error/ accounting error takea place and consumers gets victimised.
Finally after a months of numerous exchange of maiks and phone calls they gave me a clean chit and took off the negative report from Cbill.
My dear friends, my suggestion to you all is that never entertain the collection agent or get into an arguments. they are mostly goons. contact the customer care by mails and record all the calls and try to get hold of a senior manager or director. and if its harrasment or unproffessional please records all conversations and produce it in courts.
Banking is a means not an end.
