By reviewing this I am not committing any good or bad about hotel but the person I met in the hotel reception disappointed me a lot.
Our(Me and my Wife) booking was 12 PM but we reached early around 5 AM, we waited for a while and then reached to the hotel by 6 AM thinking if we can get any room for freshen up and will leave the Bags, so that we can go for morning sight seen, now here is the conversation between me and hotel reception(Mr. Harman)
I: Good Morning Sir.
Reception: No rooms, No Rooms.
I: Sir, I have room booked by 12 PM today.
Reception: Come by 12 PM, there is no rooms now.
I: Sir, please do something.
Reception: No, No, there is no room, I cannot do anything.
I: Ok, can I keep my Bags here.
Reception: Sure, Next to the stairs keep the Bags and come back by 12 PM will keep your room ready.
I: Sir, Can I get the room just to fresh up.
Reception: No, No, No rooms.
I: Sir, any common room is fine just want to fresh up for sight seen.
Reception: Ok, it is on 10th floor.
We were very disappointed with this straight conversation as we were tired of long journey so we decided not to keep the Bags there(near to stair, which is common for everyone) and came out from the hotel as we could not leave our stuff simply anywhere.
We called to MakeMyTrip and asked them if we can cancel the booking so that I can booked hotel somewhere else, he discussed with Hotel Manager and replied please go back to the hotel by 7 AM and the hotel will provide you room without any additional charge.
We went back to the hotel around 7:40 AM, as soon as we entered to the hotel reception started ignoring us and then he said -
Reception: Oh, You came again, but still there is no room come by 12 PM
I: MakeMyTrip told me that you confirmed them that there will be a room by 7 AM
Reception: It was about to be vacated but could not.
I: Then why you promised MakeMyTrip and asked them to tell me to come back by 7 AM, I would have continued my morning sight seen?
Reception: There is no room so how can I give you the room, I am not just simply sitting here.
I: Even I didn't come to Kanya Kumari to sit in your hotel and wait for the room.
My wife pulled me out from the hotel as she was not comfortable with this conversation, then we called MakeMyTrip again and explained the situation but they couldn't do anything as my booking was by 12 PM and booking could not be cancel on the same day, so there was no refund.
We had only 2 option left was either wait until 12 PM or book other hotel, so we booked other hotel with lesser price and never turned back to The Temple City Hotel.
Here are the highlights -
1) During the whole conversation there was no smile on reception face, he was looking in some other mode.
2) During the whole conversation he never greeted us, never asked "how can I assist you or what you can do for you" and never provided complete solution, only made us to wait instead he would have ask to check some other hotel for half day stay or could use his contacts to help us to get the rooms in other hotels.
3) Helping nature, customer satisfaction was not at all there.
4) We can understand if booking is done by 12 PM, we should not ask for rooms before that but if customer is in need of some help then what is Hotel Management responsibility?
5) Instead of asking us to keep our luggage next to the common stairs, could provide us some other solution where we could believe our Stuffs are in safe place.
6) Last but not the least, which is best: being like a computer or being a human?
