Ranjith's katti roll review inspired me to write this review !!! Rolls always remind me of Fanoos
Fanoos has been in Bangalore from a long time ... I myself have little idea when it started but I have been hearing this name right from the day the I have been in Bangalore.
Restaurant ??
Well it cannot be called a restaurant in its true sense. Its basically and stand and eat kind of place. You place your order, take your coupon and go to the respective counters and get your orders.
Its located next to Johnson market, Richmond Road, Bangalore. You could also use Fatima Bakery as a landmark.
This place opens by 5:00 and remains open till 11:00-11:30. Previously it used to be open till midnight.
Ambience
If you are the 5 Star food material, you can make do without visiting Fanoos. It is also not for squeamish types who squirm at the sight of grease and some dirt and eating while standing on to footpath or the road.
This place does not have great ambience but I must say that if you are hungry and you have only some bit of money and you would not like to go to a big restaurant and wait for an order, this is the place to be. Its ideal for bachelors and students swear by this place.
Rolls, Kababs... galore
This place is famous for its rolls. They have several sizes in rolls. Kabab rolls which are again classified into , jumbo rolls, rambo rolls and mambo rolls ( which could be translated to large, extra large and extra extra large):).
The content of the above is definitely beef.
However for chicken and mutton lovers there are variations of chicken and mutton rolls too. I specially love the chicken liver roll.
Besides rolls you can also get kababs, chicken pieces, chicken legs, chicken breasts, etc all done in tandoori, etc.
I have not tried the kababs yet as I always go straight for the rolls. :) However I am sure you will not be disappointed.
Light on the Pocket and Fast on the Table.
This place is light on your pocket. You can have a filling meal for two for less than 100/-. Isnt that cool ??
The service is good. The beef rolls are available anytime immediately as they are so popular. However chicken liver rolls might take sometime, lets say 5 minutes.
You also have the option to pack the food and take it home and have it at leisure. Goes very well with my Vodka too. :):)
My thoughts
If you are a non-veg lover and are just passing by that way in the evening, you can check this place out...
PS : There is a separate counter for chicken and beef so that the two meat do not mix as there are many who do not eat beef.
