You have seen the reason that prompted me to go in for Honda Unicorn. I bought a Unicorn on Jan 6th, 2007 and have already covered 8000 km in just three months. My bike covers around 90 to 95 km/day.Here are a few of my observations :Tuff UP tube :The manual claims that the tuff up tube and take the rider approximatelty five kilometers even after a nail goes through it. False claim. Had a nail through the rear tyre and it did not carry me even 1/2 a kilometer. Mono Suspension :The only point on which these people are banking upon.
After my first service at their authorised service station at Thane my suspension started acting funny. Whenever there are rough roads, I feel as if I am galloping on a pony, tabdik tabdik. Gears : Gears get locked very often and at times slip as well. May turn out to be fatal on the highway when you are at a speed of 90 or 110 and not able to switch gears when the need arises.Average : Have been getting an average between 56 km/l to 59.693 km/l. Well, could be because of my riding habbit that it falls as low as 56 km/l. My average speed is 90 to 110 on highway and 60 to 80 in the city. Now the most important thing :Servicing your UNICORN at an authorised service station is a pain in the a-s-s. During the first service my bike was kept with them for about 2 days.
Even after 2 days I was not given my bike. I had to fight with those guys and was ready to have my free service lapsed. They obliged by just changing the oil and charging me for it. My bike was not even washed. I even feel my suspension was changed. I feel they removed my new original mono suspension and replaced with a duplicate or a faulty one. I had the suspension checked by three local mechanic's and all three had the same thing to say after changing the settings that the suspension was OUT.During second service I decided to go to a different service station and this time I got a broken indicator. On bringing it to their notice they denied that it was their guys who had done it. I doubt if they really changed the engine oil for which they had charged me.No doubt the bike is awesome. Gives you a macho feel and is very good at handling but when it comes to after sales or having your bike serviced you better take care....
