I bought a Honda City exi in January 2005 from Ring Road Honda at New Delhi. I have done 64000 km. Not even once I had any problem with the car. it gives 10-12 kmpl with AC in city. On high ways it gives a great 15-16 kmpl. You should use only standard fuel. Don't waste money on petrol with special additives. They do not help at all.All you need to do is to get it serviced as per schedule. Average servicing used to cost around 2200. However since July this year the dealer started claiming that Honda has specified a special engine oil which costs around 1800 per change as against the usual around 800.
This coupled with some other upgrades puts the servicing cost at around Rs 3500-3800.I have noticed that the service engineer tries to impress on the car owner some things which are not really necessary. Like under chassis protection, or a paint coating to make it scratch proof, special treatment for fuel injectors etc. My experience is that most of these are not required.
I believe the service engineers earn some incentives if they convince the owner and get the job done.
In fact I wanted to switch to a new car and I am not finding any better replacement except another Honda City!!! But then my 2005 model is still great and not giving me any problem. Can some body advise me what should be the resale value of my 2005 city? Also what better car I can buy in price range of 8-10 lacs? Finally Petrol vs Diesel-which is better?
