Lets see this one rationally : honda has made an automatic scooter, so I should get the same comfort my kinetic always gave me, right? WRONG!!
First of all, lets talk looks. The activa looks like an old beaten down fat version of the Kinetic Honda ZX. Ok so you want to put a four stroke engine, hence itll look fat. But does it have to look old? Even the Bajaj Saffire had already made a better looking product, and now there is the Nova from Kinetic which is simply astounding to look at. the side stand of the activa is not user friendly as well.
Now features. Can barely fit one helmet, no storage space. Of course there is the automatic start, which works pretty well, except in the mornings or in the rain, when I am forced to kick start it. Fuel Efficiency is terrible. I get more from my 2 stroke Kinetic than from this 4 stroke monstrosity. Truly disappointed with 35kmpl. oh well, thats life, at least Ill save on maintenance, right? Wrong again. the service is horrible. they are all so defensive at the showroom. I took my activa there because it was making weird sounds from the engine, and I was worried and they said I am lucky that the activa is having the noise, because it was my fault and I cant drive and nothing is wrong with their scooter. Whatever, I think I know how to drive, considering the fact that I have been doing it for 10 years, and am a mechanical engineer.
in summary, I HATE my activa, and wished I had never bought it. I have heard good things about the Kinetic Nova from my friend, whether it is looks, comfort, service or maintenance.
My advice to you: Buy the Nova. It comes from a manufacturer, who knows the indian roads and conditions, is yet forward thinking and modern. The activa looks old in comparison, and there is no reason why we should feel embarassed, the way I feel when I drive my scooter.
