Hitachi's 1.5 TR Window AC
I recently purchased this AC as summer in Mumbai started its rise (in temperature). When it comes to home appliances and gadgets making a decision on which Brand and Model to buy is an exercise in itself. So when I set out to buy an AC, how did I make my choice?
I will first list all those parameters which I considered necessary in the AC that I was looking for (not in any particular order)
The air throw louvre should be to the left side of the AC. (The AC cut-out in my room was to the right side of the wall and my bed was to the left side. )
An AC with low power consumption.
An AC with remote control but also should have controls on the AC panel.
It should have low noise.
After a lot of study I concluded the Hitachi RAA18CP14 was the right one. It was one of those few AC that had its air throw louvre to the left side.
The AC I find has all those features that I consider necessary to make it a good AC. 1. It has different modes - Auto, Fan, Power, Cool, Dry etc. The Auto mode helps in reducing power consumption as it automatically switches off and on the compressor depending on the temperature in the room.
The Kaimin feature also helps reduce power consumption as it steps up the temperature by 1 degree every hour for a maximum of 4 hours.
On/Off Timer helps prevent unnecessary use beyond what is required
There is a power index which indicates the amount of power being consumed.
An LED also indicates whether the compressor is on or off.
Note: All the above features are related to power usage of the AC, which is
a very vital aspect one has to consider when making a purchase
decision.
A good and attractive Remote Control.
Filter cleaning indicator.
Swing feature.
The cooling capacity of the AC is excellent. It not only cools well but also cools quickly and with low noise.
My only grouse is with the remote control. I have found that it is not very responsive. I do not know whether it is the fault of remote control or it is designed that way.
I would finally conclude by saying that this AC is a cool one.
