Last year we decided to buy a window AC, as we were staying in top floor and summers are very hot in Delhi NCR. We started the search and were very much confused with so many brands and models available each promising the moon:-).
I talked to few of my friends who were using ACs for quite some time, and most of them which were using Hitachi were very happy with Hitachi brand ACs even though they agreed, service is not great, then they said product is excellent so who need service?
With money not a strict criteria, I decided to go for Hitachi 1.5 ton Window AC(was some 5-6k costly then similar LG/Whirlpool etc), but somewhat reluctant for their service quality. I bought it from Hometown, TGIP, Noida, and as promised delivery was made on the 2th day itself. And as suggested by the hometown salesman, I had already requested Hitachi service centre for the installation on the previous day itself, and to my surprise, the guys, turned up on the same day, when product was delivered!
Product installation was done in 1/2 hrs and I must confess, there were no demo, nothing explained nor did any other guy turned up later to explain product features. But I went thru the product manual, which is decently written and learned about the basic operations quite easily.
Now comes the product experience. The remote is quite big but not uncomfortable. The display is very basic one and doesn't even show the current temperature set(leave alone the current room temperature!) The filter clean indicator is only time based, and alarms periodically(once in 3 weeks or so) irrespective of actual usage or dust in the filter. Cleaning filter is really easy.
So the AC is basic one, nothing fancy, but it works great! Cooling is very effective, and noise levels are very low!(super silent when fan speed is lowest!). And the great relief is, it is highly power efficient(mine is 3 star, but electricity bills are very reasonable).
Its working fine for last 1.5 years and I am really happy with my choice so far, lets hope, it keep performing well.
