Hit back at the roaches. Review on Hit Anti Roach Gel

Like any household, I too suffered from a roach infestation problem. You could find them in a variety of sizes in the kitchen area. In the wee hours of the morning, you could catch them scampering along on the counter and walls. I tried many aerosol based pest sprays from Hit, Baygon, etc. Although they were able to kill the large ones easily, they had limited success eradicating the small pesky critters. So it was just a matter of time that they were back to business.

I was fed up with this routine of spraying week after week and was on the lookout for a more complete solution. In addition, the chemical in those sprays caused breathlessness and other respiratory problems. I came upon the Hit Anti Roach Gel by Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. during one of my shopping sprees. The product cost Rs. 120 for a 20 gm content single pack. The gel was enclosed in an easy-to-use click-based injector. Each injection has about 200 clicks/doses of gel. The gel is odorless and claims to contain no harmful industrial grade chemicals or agricultural insecticide.

At night, I applied the gel in the most cockroach prone areas, i.e. under the sink and cabinets, below the gas stove and cylinder, behind the fridge and microwave, etc. trying to maintain a distance of about 10 cm per application as was instructed on the leaflet. This gel works by attracting the cockroaches. They eat it, get infected and die. Remember, to leave the dead carcass for an extra day as the other cockroaches feed on them and die, thereby eliminating the whole cockroach nest without any effort. Next few days I noticed that the gel was effective as many of the big and medium cockroaches were killed. In a week of so, the number of small cockroaches were also non-existent. The gel was able to ward off the infestation for 4-5 months before reapplication was necessary.

Precautions that should be taken:

1. The gel is a poison and should be kept away from the reach of children.

   
   




2. The gel should be applied in dry areas to remain effective.

   
   




3. Do not simultaneously use with other pesticides or aerosol sprays as the gel will become ineffective.

   
   




4. Keep areas such as kitchen, bathroom and storage area clean and dry as general precautionary measure.
