Hera Pheri came at a time when we weren?t seeing much of comedy movies. All we were seeing were romance and action types which were a common movie making trend when this movie came. It came as a breath of fresh air and people appreciated it. Priyadarshan might have seen Andaaz Apna Apna so he thought Paresh Rawal would be a perfect actor for the movie he wanted to make. He cast him and others and as a result the movie turned out to be an absolute laugh riot.
Story/Plot:
I am not going to write the whole story here since most of you might have seen this movie. For all those who haven?t seen I am giving the idea of the story.
Shyam (Suniel Shetty) comes to Mumbai in search of his father?s job who was working in a bank and died due to fire in the office. There he comes to know about Tabu (Anuradha Panikar) whose father also died in the same fire but was the time of death was after Shyam?s father?s death. Shyam tries to get this job.
Shyam is in dire need of money since he has lent the money from his friend Khadak Singh (Om Puri) whose sister?s going to be married soon and so he requires money too. Meanwhile he comes across Baburao Apte (Paresh Rawal) whom he approaches to get a place to live in. Baburao gives him a room which is to be shared with Shyam by Raju (Akshay Kumar).
Raju and Shyam have already fought once so Raju tries to take revenge by giving a N.O.C to Anuradha reading that Shyam doesn?t require a job now. Anuradha gets the job and Shyam is angry for revenge. He comes across a truth that Raju has been lying to his mother that he is working in an MNC. In short all the three characters are in dire need of money by hook or by crook. Then they all settle their woes and become friends. This is the first half.
One night a call comes from a gangster Kabeera who has kidnapped grand daughter Rinkuof Deviprasad (Khulbhushan Kharbanda) who is owner of Star Fisheries. He demands 10 lakh ransom from Deviprasad. But due to misprinting in telephone directory the call is received by Shyam.
In turn these three make a plan to earn money by shortcut by demanding more money from Deviprasad and settling the issue out. Things go haywire and suddenly Kabeera becomes angry. Will Raju, Shyam and Baburao be able to rescue Rinku? Will Police come to know about these kidnappers? Will Shyam be able to pay the money to Khadak Singh? See the movie and find out.

Performances:
Paresh Rawal: If one person had made me laugh to the T it was Paresh Rawal. Awesome performance and superb comic timing made by this person made this movie fun to watch. Natural acting by Paresh Rawal portraying the role of Babubhaiyya was great to watch.
Akshay Kumar: His performance was also very good in the movie. His expressions and some good one-liners also made him good to watch on the screen. Overall it was a good performance from him
Suniel Shetty: I didn?t know Suniel could do comedy too. He also made me laugh in the movie. watch out the scene when he calls deviprasad and says Hello Kabeera speaking?
Tabu: She didn?t had much to do in the movie but she did an ok job.
The performances of Om Puri, Gulshan Grover, Mukesh Khanna in their cameos were pretty good too.
Music: Songs were not at all required in the movie. They did nothing more than hampering the pace of the movie. The only good song was Jabhi koi hasina dekhu. Else nothing was there in the audio department. Music by Annu Malik can be considered as less than Average. Lyrics were also useless.
Conclusion: I will say only one thing. If you haven?t watched Heri Pheri do watch it and have ah hearty laugh.
