Like many other British males I have long suffered the socially embarrassing scourge of dandruff and a self-confessed weakness of mine is that I am rather susceptible to the undoubted power of advertising, especially by pretty models.
Well Head & Shoulders Normal Shampoo is advertised heavily in the media and adverts feature regularly on my TV screen. Normally these depict glamorous models and other celebrities extolling the virtues of H&S in getting rid of the dreaded dandruff. The clinically-proven formula,we are reliably informed, successfully fights the dreaded dandruff and makes us socially acceptable once again!
The principal cause of dandruff,it would appear,is the fungus known as malassezia. This is present on the scalp but seems to be a bit over active in the case of us poor dandruff sufferers.
Head & Shoulders shampoo products are made by the huge US company, Proctor & Gamble, who really are a household name. This giant multinational company produces soaps, detergents and health care products including shampoos and has done so for ages and ages. It has long been among the market leaders and has outlets and sales in most countries of the world.
This shampoo,to my knowledge has been produced in the US,for more than 35 years and is widely available as a dandruff treatment. A well -known antifungal ingredient is pyrithione zinc and this happens to be the so-called active ingredient in this famous shampoo.
The shampoo is light blue and in colour and has a most pleasant but mild smell. It lathers easily and its mild scent makes it suitable for both men and women;in other words, this is one shampoo that is gender neutral.
My experience with this product is more or less the same as those beautiful, glamorous celebrities on TV. It does seem to actually function effectively in controlling dandruff. Mind you, thanks to nagging and constant reminders from my daughter, for it to be effective you do have to use it a couple of times a week.
I am by no mean possessed of expertize in dermatology but I have found my dandruff count is greatly diminished after using H&S Normal Shampoo. I have tried a few other brands from time-to-time but reckon the Proctor & Gamble product to be the most effective. I hope its not all that advertising that is convincing me !
This shampoo is by no means the most expensive on the market, yet,it seems to work in dealing with dandruff, so I consider it is very good value for money. It also happens to smell nice.Inevitably there is a down side to everything and some users might find it softens their hair. I do not worry too much about that since I do not have too much hair left to worry about. Anyway, this is a small price to pay for getting rid of those nasty whitish scalp flakes, don't you think ?
