I am using HDFC bank Gold Credit card from past 4 years. I am satisfied with my card and the services they are providing. I am getting whatever I was promised at the time I opted for this card. Customer service is good so far.
All the credit cards are good. Please keep in mind following things while you apply for a new card or use existing card.
While taking new card ask about all your requirements. Like lifetime free card, service charges, grace period etc.
Always keep a track of all your purchases.
Always Pay your bill on time. Don't be a defaulter.
If you can not pay complete bill then at least make sure that you are paying more than minimum amount due. If you pay less then the min Amount due then they will apply service tax on complete amount(No one will want this). If you pay more than min amount due then they will apply service tax on rest of the amount(Somewhat OK as you are using bank's money)
You can redeem your reward points though you'll not get much out of it.
Even if you pay min amount due then the customer service executive will not call you for payment. Many a times I've paid only min amount due but till now no calls from CSEs in past 4 years.
If you maintain your record then the company offer for pre- approved loans(Please opt for it on your own risk after checking the interest rate, duration etc) I never opted for the one.
If you make a big purchase then you can convert that amount into EMIs provided you call CSE before your bill is generated. They don't need any proof to convert that amount into EMI. Interest rate is as low as 2-3%.
If you have an account in HDFC bank then you can directly pay credit card bill from ATM or through internet bank.
Try to never pay your bill directly into bank or through cheque. They charge Rs 100(I guess) to do that.
Guyz be careful while using your credit card at petrol pumps. Those guyz sometimes make duplicate of your credit card and they can even see your CVV2 no which can be dangerous. Make sure that you make them swipe your card in front of you.
There is some surchage when you swipe your card for petrol. on Rs. 500 they charge me aroung 10-20 Rupees.
Keep above things in mind and use your card only in need. I want to tell you an incidence. I along with some of my friends took HDFC credit card at same time. All of then landed into being defaulters in some months and I am using my card till date. I managed it really well
Its better to swipe a debit card than a credit card.:)
