The largest selling strong beer in the world, selling over 14 million cases around the world annually and gets exported to a host of countries its none other than Haywards 5000. Drinkers of Haywards 5000 will vouch for it. Known for its smoothness yet strong effects, Haywards 5000 has captured the hearts of millions of people around the world. It is the flagship product of Shaw Wallace. Shaw Wallace is a company whose history can be traced back to over 120 years. It was founded in 1886 and grew to be a forerunner of Indian breweries after independence. It was India’s first company to import a car from the UK. In the year 2005 Shaw Wallace was acquired by the one and only, the liquor baron of India, Vijay Mallya and it now sits under the UB Group of companies which by the way has 60% market share in India’s liquor market. Haywards 5000 was launched in 1983, it instantly became famous because it was neither bitter nor pungent but strong and smooth, that’s pretty much every strong beer drinker wants/wanted. How is Haywards 5000 made to be this ways? The label in the back of the bottle has the explanation “Haywards 5000 is patiently brewed over an extended brew cycle to yield a beer that is super strong, yet surprisingly smooth.” Any beer drinker in India would have definitely tried Haywards 5000 at least once and it’s the regular beer for thousands of beer drinkers. Haywards 5000 is a standard strong beer that is widely available in all bars and wine shops even Amma’s Tasmac shops, that’s another reason it got famous. “Asli josh se bach ke kahan jaoge” is what Haywards 5000’s slogan says & ofcourse it means that. I haven’t tried hitting a dartboard with a hunter’s knife after drinking the beer either (just like the model does in the Haywards Ad which used to be aired so long ago). But all I know it 5000 does what it is supposed to do, gets you drunk without tasting bad and I love it for that and so does everyone who drink it. Cheers!!!
