I purchased a Havells Celia-i cooler in April 2019. The cooler is not bad considering that it's a room cooler and can not compete with a window cooler. The functions given are related to speeds, power, cooling etc. There are enough inlets for filling in water and outlets for draining out water or for managing overflow too. The build quality is good and sturdy and it has a remote control too though the range of the remote control is within 2.5 metres. It is not too noisy and has strong fan speed. There are three side honeycomb pads which are in fashion nowadays though I am a bit doubtful about the cooling done by honeycomb pads.
This year(2020) the cooler was not starting. I lodged a complaint. The Havells mechanic who came told me that a rat had cut some part and he replaced the part. He charged me Rs 1500/- for the part that he replaced and Rs 250/- towards the visit charge. Later that day I found that the cooling function of the cooler was not working and a red light was blinking near the power button. I rang the mechanic up and he instructed me to open the back of the cooler and clean up the sensor. I tried but could not find the sensor. Then he said he would send someone the next day. I have been waiting and after umpteenth calls nobody has come as was promised by the Havells mechanic. When finally I told the Havells mechanic that I would report the matter to Havells and elsewhere he told me to go ahead and do it. So I am doing it so that others can get a complete picture. I have a few other points too on which I would like clarification:
I had purchased the cooler in April 2019. I did not contact Havells earlier this year when I found out the problem because lockdown had started and I did not want anyone to visit my home then due to safety reasons. Keeping this in view, my warranty period must be extended automatically. Why was I charged Rs 250/- as visit charges?
Why didn't the mechanic inspect and ensure that the cooler was working properly after replacing the part? Why did he tell me that it was repaired?
I was not given any receipt for the Rs 1750/- that I paid. Why not?
Havells has not responded to my e-mails in the matter and I am not able to get any help from their Whatsapp number either. Customer care executive told me over phone to lodge another complaint. What have I been doing if not complaining!
The cooler is not bad though it's a bit steeply priced. Also, the circuits should be totally packed otherwise mice/rats that get inside through the side vents(even if the front collapsible louvers are closed) can damage the circuits.
