HTP is a story of a confused "non egoist" Nikhil and a scientist Meeta. It travereses the various lanes of camaraderie, friendship, partners in the theft and romance!
Story-
The movie starts way back in the 90s when one girl with curious mind closes t door from outside using a rope and on the other hand a boy(of the same age) deceives his parents, in order to watch his favorite movie.+14 years, they meet again, share an idea about future of cricket, the girl asks the guy to accompany her to Goa.He refuses.End!.plus 7 years, the guy(Sidharth) is engaged to his girlfriend of 7 years(Adha sharma) and re-enters the eccentric(+drug addict+IIT Grad) Parineeti. After multiple twists and turns, n number of breakups and patch-ups, some thought provoking ideas and some relaxation tips, they unite in the end.
Sounds cliched!Nopes, its a way different love story than you can think of.
Direction-
Vinil Mathew's direction is flawless and the movie doesnt drag even for a minute. There were stalwarts who made Ram leela(the headache inflicting flick) and then there are directors like Ayan, Imtiaz and Vinil can definitely be added to this list.He paid attention to small details and his directorial venture will earn him accolades in the upcoming award functions(provided there is no fixing like this year's award functions in favour of the debacle Raam leela!)
Star cast-
Sidharth-The actor looks innocent and is extremely likeable. The confused Nikhil that he portrayed, who doesnt think twice before copying the ideas of others to earn big bucks, who will not breakup with his girlfriend even if he is aware of the reality of their relationship .Sidharth essayed the role with ease.He is a new kid in the block and as I predicted in my STudent of the year review, he is somebody who can definitely give Ranbeer/Ranveer a run for their money.
But!
This movie belongs to our very own Parineeti:)The moment she enters the frame, she brightens it up.Extremely confident and believable in the role she portrayed.Blinking her eyes, rolling her eyes and being in her own world, paying no heed to whatever confusion is created around her.she makes you believe in her job and her role immediately. What an actress!
A refreshing change from the beauty queens who believe dancing in few songs, wearing skimpy clothes and layers of makeup will make them a star. Here is a real star.Jeans -tee-shirt, over-sized jackets and sneakers!.OH, not to forget the geek glasses.and you nt even once miss the glamour other plastic beauties would instill in the scene. She is magical. No actress from the industry could have done even 50% of what Pari did.She is irreplaceable.
In one line, Parineeti is to Hasee toh phasee what Kareena was to Jab we met!
The rest of the star-cast was extremely good.Sharat saxena as an angry and disciplined police officer and especially Manoj Joshi. He was at his best in this movie.I also liked the character from Kanpur!
Music-
An album having 95% tracks which are melodious is a welcome change! All the songs and the background scores are amazing. My personal favs used to be Manchala and Zehnaseeb, before I watched the flick. But now there is a new fav, a song which was not launched earlier.'tenu takta fira".thumbs up!
The review of this movie will be incomplete without its different, unique and interesting dialogues ."tum oxygen ho aur main double hydrogen."agar tum idea hote aur main technology."pyar ki gurantee chahiye, job ki guranatee chahiye.", "clones, clown hogi tu!" and yes, the baby kaise sota hai wala dialogue:)
Just a minor glitch was the fact that Meeta was shaking a leg or two on punjabi wedding song, and the next moment she is tensed about her laboratory in china.A little unconvincing. But one mistake is always forgiven!
This movie proves that no foreign locations, no top notch stars and no item songs are required to make a movie one in a million. All you need is a good director, great actors and gripping story line.
If Wake up sid was one epic movie in "hat ke romance", Hasee toh phasee is another classic!
4 stars for this Sid-Pari starrer cucking frazy flick!
