Ever been on holiday and played a round of 'crazy golf' - well this is nothing like that, but it certainly is CRAZEEEE GOLF!
Adam Sandler, star of Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, etc plays Happy Gilmore a failure at Ice Hockey who turns his attention to Golf. Tiger Woods he aint! More like a John Daly meets Gazza with a slice of Eddie the Eagle on Top.
He wants to be a success, but doesnt really care and doesnt like Golf. He plays it his way. His first drive gets him nowhere till he has a run up and hits the ball like a slapshot in Ice Hockey and wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww it goes!
Okay you have a big hitter, but can he putt? No is the answer.
Golf as most people know is a skilful sport, has vast money, but is very regimented by tradition and rules and regulations. Rules ? Regulations? Not for Happy.
He demolishes the game taking it to new levels of laughter. But the film isn't just a crash em smash em whirl of Happy being gross. He has to earn money to save his mums house. He gets a tour card and gradually improves, winning more and more each time. It's not going to happen in the real world - but this is a movie - suspend belief for 90 minutes.
Great performance by Sandler, good story but most important great fun and one to rival that golf classic of a few years ago 'CaddyShack' with wacky Bill Murray
