HAPPY ENDING:- SIMPLE, SLOW, GOES WITH THE FLOW
Went for a movie after a long time & it was a big risk given the fact that it was a movie starring none other than Saif Ali Khan. But to my surprise, it wasnt as bad as I had expected I to be.
It is a very simple movie, slow paced and just about bores you towards the end, but yet it isn't bad at all. Story is a repeat of many former flicks but there is something that keeps you attracted to the screen.
The set up & locations provide pure natural beauty to the eyes. It is a movie which can be accepted on the whole even though there is that typical Bollywood flavor as expected at quite a few places, but that is what is the Indian public used to.
Coming to the main point, there is Yudi(Saif Ali Khan) who had written a book 5 and a half years ago & since hasn't been into writing and thought he was a very famous writer. He is someone who likes to be with the girls but isn't ready to have long term commitment. This is where we get a feel as to how the ending of the movie will be(If you know what I mean).
Yudi was in a mixed relationship with Vishakha(Kalki) who was deeply in love with him. She was so possessive about Yudi that she had downloaded an app in her as well as Yudi's phone through which she could track as to where Yudi is. Now that is something really weird.
Then there is Montu(Ranvir Shorey) who is married and a bestie of Yudi, they hang out quite a few times and party hard. Lack of work, the feel of a celebrity led to some problems in Yudi's life. Just then, a new author shot to fame named Aanchal Reddy(Ileana D Cruz). She wrote love stories and her books were sold easily in the market.
As the time progresses, Yudi falls for Aanchal. The journey and the way the relationship is developed was what impressed me. Both shared the same mentality that long term commitments are a big No. The chemistry between Saif and Ileana is surprisingly good.
We also have Govinda who wants to make a super hit movie by making a combination of selected scenes from famous Hollywood flicks. Viewers also get to watch Kareena and Preity in small cameos.
The story by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru is not something out of the box, but it certainly isnt bad. The narrative style is very good and covers up for the lack of depth and novelty in the story. Screenplay is fairly good and cinematography is worth a comment.
Dialogues aren't catchy at all as the movie isn't based on that angle. Direction by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru is really appreciable. They have covered the nuances quite well.
Music by Sachin-Jigar is decent enough. The songs that stand out are Jaise Mera Tu sung by Arijit Singh and Priya Saraiya & Mileya Mileya sung by Rekha Bharadwaj, Jigar Saraiya and Priya Andrews. FOr a person like me, I am still surprised that I actually liked Paaji Tussi. The lyrics and singing of Priya Saraiya in Jaise Mera Tu is praiseworthy.
Coming to the performances, Saif Ali Khan is where the movie revolves around and he does a very good job. Ileana is so good, beautiful and acts really well, deserves good roles. Ranvir Shorey is a fine actor and I loved whatever part he had in the movie. Govinda brought smiles on the faces every time he came on the screen. Kalki had a small role but did well.
All in all, this movie has certainly exceeded my expectations. I would have loved a proper end though. Slow, simple and going with the flow:- I don't mind such movies. I will rate it 3/5.
