Make Stress Your Friend

Stress is a dynamic condition in which an individual is confronted with an opportunity, constraint or demand related to what he or she desires and for which the outcome is perceived to be both uncertain and important. If a person sees the outcome of an event as most important and is not at all certain of the result, the person will experience highest stress. The degree of stress will vary according to the importance attached to the outcome and its uncertainty. Different people will experience different stress levels in a similar situation.

To reduce our stress level, we should change our attitude and handle every situation in a positive manner. The result of any event will either be in our favour or against. So, where is the uncertainty? And as far as importance of the outcome is concerned, we should do our Karma and leave the result to the God. The outcome might be important for us but it will be dependent only on how well we have prepared to address the situation. Once the event is over, worrying about the result will not change the outcome. It will only increase the stress level.

Also stress is not necessarily bad in and of itself. While stress is typically discussed in a negative context, it also has positive value.  It places many opportunities before you where it offers potential gain.  We can use stress positively to rise to the occasion and perform at our maximum potential.

So, dear friends, make stress your friend. Make sincere efforts to handle the situation. Stop worrying about the result after the event is over. If you have done well then the result will be in your favour. If it is not, then examine where you have lacked in your efforts. Take corrective actions and work with more sincerity. Life is not one event. Learn from events which have happened and prepare well for events which are in store.
