Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi is a spiritual place for thousands of pilgrims. But it is equally painful and shameful that there is no security in the parking of this holy place.
With deep grief I am writing this review, yesterday dated 29th April 2019 at about 2 PM we visited Gurudwara Bangla Sahib for my routine prayers and had parked my car in the underground parking but when I returned back at around 2:50 pm to the car a major theft had already taken place. I was shocked to see that the side window glass of my Maruti Baleno car was broken badly and our all belongings were taken away. Mine and my friend's purses were there which contain valuable stuff, cash and house keys even our license, adhar cards, and other important stuff.
I agree that leaving valuable stuff in the car is not safe but we always presume that we are parking inside Gurughar and everything would be safe. We generally do some Seva at the kitchen so taking purse along is not manageable. Moreover, there were several men on duty at different places inside the parking area.
The most disappointing part was when we requested the men at duty at parking, but unfortunately, no one came for help and pretended indifferently. Even we requested management staff to show us the CCTV footage but they refused to open the room and said they don’t have the keys. No one was ready to help us in parking staff; they were so rude and smiling seeing two ladies crying and requesting for help and they are feeling so helpless and miserable. We were so disappointed with the behavior of parking staff and then we dialed 100, a courteous Policeman arrived and noted our statement. Then we lodge FIR to the nearest police station.
The most shocking thing was only a few cameras were working and the system was not recording any footage. Why and how the management can ignore such a thing?
I could not sleep for the whole night and think about the security measures of such big and holy spiritual HOME OF GOD. This was just a theft anything major incident could take place in daylight where there is huge footfall. All the committee members were aware of that the CCTV cameras are not working then why they ignored the repair? Were they waiting for something major happened? If a theft can happen in such a bad manner then any major incident could take place at such a spiritual home of GOD where more than 80000 of devotees visited daily.
There was an iron weapon sort of thing was lying near my car, most probably they broke the glass with that only. I presume that there are more than 2-3 men involved and most probably the internal parking men on duty were involved either directly or indirectly. Whosoever did this was aware that the CCTV cameras are not working.
I have several questions for Gurudwara Samiti and expect the positive action could be taken in the future.
1.Why that sort of iron rod lying in the Gurudwara Sahib precinct which can be mis-utilized as a weapon?
2.Whenever a toughened glass gets broken it creates loud sound…HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT NO ONE HEARD THAT SOUND WHEN I WAS NO MORE THAN 50 METERS AWAY FROM THE ENTRANCE OF THE GURUDWARA PARKING BOOTH?
3.That is a GURUGHAR, and in the center of City Capital and there no security? WHO TAKES RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SAME?
4.WHAT IF EVEN A MORE HEINOUS CRIME TAKES PLACE IN PARKING LOT AND THERE IS NO CCTV FOOTING TO HELP POLICE APPREHEND THE CULPRITS? (DELHI HAS SEEN NIRBHAYA CASE AND ONE THING WHICH HELPED POLICE APPREHEND THE CULPRITS WAS THE CCTV FOOTING OF A HOTEL IN THE VICINITY).
5.As citizens of Delhi and Sangat of Gurudwara Sahib, is this not our duty to bring people who have commissioned this crime to be brought to justice?
Hoping for an appropriate action to be taken in the larger public interest.
Regards to all.
