Marvellously revisiting an old Classic

There comes a time where you realise that it’s time to finally face what you have being running from and take a stand, this is what this movie is about. Sometimes, you have to take the braver decision to prove to yourself that you can do much better. And what better to realise this than in a beautifully written and visually spell bounding classic.

The story of the movie, surprisingly, goes as the classic but is set in the modern temporary world of Manhattan. Gulliver is a low esteemed mail man at a publication’s office. He is somewhat self- content and has never thought of any kind of succession in his life. He thinks this is the way he is supposed to be, at the same place as the head mail man, for eight years.

He finds his lady love in Darcy, who works in the same office. For the past five years he has been ogling on her but not courageous enough to make attempt at asking her out. In a final attempt he crosses out which lands him an assignment to go to the Bermuda triangle to cover a small assignment from his lady love and he foolishly accepts it.

He lands in Bermuda, take a lone boat and is washed off at the shore of Lilliput where the classic begins. After initial hesitation he becomes a big hot-shot in the kingdom of Lilliput and is provided all the facilities of a royal he could imagine. Trouble does come and he is sent off to the lands of the giants for a brief period but he returns back to prove himself and retain his lost glory and love from the people of Lilliput. Darcy lands up following him too. Finally, he confesses his love and they return back home to a new and better life.

Frankly, there was nothing to despise in the movie. It was a pure entertainer. From the moment it started, my eyes and ears where hooked to the film. Jack black was awesome as usual but what also stood out was the performance of Jason Segal. Carrying a humorous touch the scene where Gulliver is fired at with cannon balls and they bounce back is rib-tickling. The movie is very, very visually appealing, the whole set and get up of Lilliput was finely and uniquely done. The proportions and the directions were handed carefully, which could be seen throughout the movie. What acts as a cherry on the cake, is the overall feel goof factor it provided. Each and every emotion throughout the movie was beautifully portrayed. In the end, from our school textbooks the story has finally come alive marvellously.
