Guhagar is a very old town i.e. from the time of the PESHWAS.it is a beach place on the western coast of Maharashtra. the climate here is humid but cool and extraordinarily polution-free as comparing to the climate of the other nearby towns. avarage population here is around 7-8 thousand.
the beach is indeed very nice, clean and calm. u can enjoy bath in the sea-water because it is the safest beach among the few around.
the architectural set-up of this town is amaizing as it has only one narrow road which devides the town in two parts. this road is parrellel to the beach. we find living houses, bettlenut trees, coconut trees and then the sand of beach respectively all over the west side of the town while going towards west.
this town is surrounded by hills on three sides and on the one, there is an Arabian sea.
Occupations of the people living here is mainly based upon agriculture selling coconut and bettlenuts and its co-products and rice.
for the past 10 years, the people are going towerds modern businesses like tourist lodges and others.
there are few good lodges which are reasonale but good to live.
climate condition here is very good except the monsoon. u can visit any time except 4 months of monsoon. but the one who love wondering in heavy rains can visit here in the monsoon also as there are good locations which become lovely green in the season.
there are also some destinations in nearby villages like hedvi and velneshwar. these two are also beach places and are aprox. 25 km away from guhagar.
to get here, direct bus service is available from mumbai, pune, kolhapur, thane etc.
the nearby railway head is chiplun, 45 km away from here.
no doubt it is a very nice place I visited so many times and enjoyed the fantastic clean beach.
do visit and tell me ur experiences.
regards,
