I finally got the refund after spreading the problem across the Facebook pages of Groupon, through at least half a dozen posts.
I would still say that the experience of paying for the fake deal followed by getting it declined by the restaurant(after a long drive, and in front of several guests), getting humiliated by restaurant staff etc. cannot be undone by a simple refund availed through a lot of effort.
The worst part is that the wrong/fake deals(even including the one which I had purchased) still exist on Groupon website, victimizing more and more visitors everyday. I am slightly improving the rating only because of the refund.

Groupon used to deliver good deals - and I am telling you on the basis of several dozen deals I purchased till 1-2 months back.
However, its website is now filled with fraud deals, and Groupon is not accountable for any purchase made through its website. This was one of the few fake deals I purchased:

Golden Tulip is one of the few merchants who are cheating its customers by first providing Groupon reservations, and then demanding a surcharge (whose value is 5 times the value of the deal itself) to redeem the deal. Groupon is now a waste of time and money.
