I had a bad experience with gomehcanic. My car broke down in Aug 2022, it refused to start, though engine was cranking. I decided to take thier service on 10th August 2022. Service buddy(gomechanic assings a dedicated person) informed me that ECM has gone bad. After discussing it with service buddy, we decided to get it replaced with a second hand ECM due to the cost reasons, and eventually I paid about 12, 000/- including labor charges. After that, I barely drove my car for 30KM, and the exactly same issue occured again on 3rd Sept 2022. I called the same service buddy and he arranged the inspection by the same workshop. Since workshop mechanic knew the history of the car, they bought a WD40(lubricant) from a hardware shop and sprayed it on the ECM and to my surprise car started. But they decided to take the car in the workshop for inspection as same issue can occur again. And this is when things didn't go as expected. On 9th Sept, service buddy informed me that it is an issue of wires being bitten by rats and ECM is in the good shape since I was worried about how come same issue can occur in such a short period. There was no update from serive buddy until the end of Sept. I decied to visit the workshop and mechanic informed me that it is not a rat bite issue(contrary to what service buddy informed me), but there is some wiring/earthing issue and they are working on it, and he also stressed that ECM is in good condition as I checked about it again.
On 30th Sept, service buddy informed me that ECM has gone bad again contrary to thier past claims. Service buddy raised the job card(order id: 202210205383709) on 20th Oct which he should have done on the first day. And again there was no update from gomechanic until 27th Oct, then I decided to Escalate the issue. On the same day a escalation manager was assigned to me, and I told her the entire episode. They repaired the car within a week after escalation, and I was forced to pay the cost for the ECM again despite several escaltions and lengthy disucsisons with the several authorities from gomechanic as I was not wiling to pay again for the same thing.
Here are some unexplained and suspicious things:
How come a dead ECM and cabling issue were resolved after spraying WD40(lubricant)? Can gomechanic explain it?
Why job card was not raised on the first day? It took them~45 days to do so.
Why there were no updates(except for 1-2 instances) given to me by the service buddy? Every time I had to call/whatsapp him for follow-up.
Why there was in-consistency in informing about the underlying issue. For about a month, both service buddy and workshop mechanic stressed that ECM is in good shape.
On what earth do you think it is OK to take about 60 days for reparing, and that too after escalations? Though I know car was repaired after intervention by the escalation manager, but she was sounding like they did a favor to me. And who would pay for the inconvinience caused to me due to the non-availability of the car for 60 days?
For the first instance, old ECM was not handed over to me despite me opting for it. Though they returned the old ECM in the second instance.
All this makes me think I was cheated by them, and they didn't replace the ECM in the first instance. Some temporary fix was done by them, and that is the reason car broken down again.
