I am one of countless adults who have acne. No one seems to know why we get it or what makes it stay after we leave our teen years. We have tried everything from Ivory soap to egg whites with alum and now Proactive comes along and gives us hope. Yes hope that tone day soon we can look'normal'. No red spots, no blackheads, no extra makeup to hide that horrible boil. Nothing is farther from the truth.
I called one night almost in tears over my face. I heard Judith Light talked about how clear her face had become and saw all the testimonials. Now I am not one to fall for an infomercial and I have been watching this one for a while and that night I had had enough of my face betraying me so I called.
A very nice lady greeted me. She explained the products to me in a very professional manner.
The package arrived two weeks late but it was delivered via UPS. I was like a kid at Christmas. Here finally was the answer to all my years of torture. My acne was finally going to be history and my makeup would look normal and not plastered on or heavy in spots to hide the zits. I would also be able to go outside with out makeup and not look like I had bites all over my face. This one little box was my miracle or so I thought.
Inside there were three tiny bottles. Ok, not exactly what I expected for$50 but I was at my wits end. Something had to give. The bottles are easy to handle and can travel well in your purse or in your suitcase for travel. I carried mine with me to work daily so I did not miss washing or a step as I was directed to do in the directions. I would have done better with just Ivory soap and water with a little witch hazel and a good moisturizer.
First we have the Cleanser. It is white and feels like it has little beads in it. It feels nice while you are rubbing it on your face. You do not need very much. An amount equal to the size of a dime is plenty.
Second we have the Toner. It is supposed to help close the pores and decrease the production of oils.
Finally we have the repairing lotion that is the final touch. This is supposed to help repair the damage done to your skin by the acne.
For me the cleanser was nice. It felt almost like silk on my face. Very smooth and gentle. Then in the'skin care routine' the toner was next. OUCH! The toner burned. I thought I had put straight alcohol on my face. My face got very red after I used the toner. Ok, I was two-thirds of the way done in the routine so I might as well as finish. Here comes the Repairing lotion. The lotion has a 5% benzoil peroxide base. This is a low dose compared to the 10% solutions you can buy over the counter. Once again my face got redder.
The directions tell you this may cause irritation and please be careful but they also tell you to give the products two to four weeks to actually work so I did the daily routine for 4 weeks to be on the safe side since I had severe adult acne. All the product did was make my acne worse. My face began to look like a herd of chickens had been pecking at my face.
I finally gave up. I called and was told I would not get my'money back guarantee' since it had been over thirty days. Well I explained to her when I ordered the products and they arrived almost two weeks after I ordered them. I also had called and voiced my concerns since I paid the extra to have them-shipped ASAP. It was noted in my'customer comments' in her computer that I had called but no one made notes as to our conversation. Then she had the nerve to ask me if I was going to continue my subscription to the product. They were getting ready to send out the second shipment. I told her that I did not want the products, that I wanted a refund. Of course I got transferred around to everyone and anyone. I have written letters and gotten no response. It has been over a year. I would not recommend you purchase this line of skin care. You can do just as well at Wal-Mart or Kmart by putting a similar assortment of products together for about$12 or less.
The Bottom Line os to save your money and go to a dermatologist. You need to see actually see your skin to help you. This product does not work.
