This is another of my favourite places. I love the cuisine and well the ambience is like chillllllllll....
Inconspicuous
Located in Lavelle Road, Max Mueller Bhavan its a small cafe which serves German food.
Its also near Java City.
This cafe is placed on the terrace of Max Mueller Bhavan and its a place very few people know about I think !! All the more reason for me to write this review :).
Rooftop gossip
Well the terrace is a cool place to be in that cafe. Its covered with thatched roof and very ethnic. The tables are placed well and in a breezy day it is heaven to be there just allowing the breeze to take away the worries and drudgery of everyday life !!
Once in a while you can aso browse through the art display exhibited there.
On the platter
Food is good but German. You will get anything German here, from Meatballs, Apfel Stroodle ( apple pie of some sort with cinnamon), Kase Kuchen ( cheese cakes), Marble Cakes, to lunch dishes which are quite appetising if you are familiar with German food.
If you want to play safe during lunch, you can go for Chicken in red wine, I think there is a menu change every alternate days .
I would recommend that unless you are crazy about German food , try the snacks instead of lunch. They are better than . If you like German breads, you can get them there.
Herr Shaulemar, the owner bakes them himself.
The fruit juices are also very different. You could try that too with your cakes.
Service is quite okay , its quite prompt if there are helpers to Herr S. But otherwise its advisable to be a little tolerant.
There is a hole in my pocket
Well my friends the only hitch to go to this exclusive place is you got to have a heavy pocket specially if you are treating your friends and I mean that literally and they do not accept credit cards. :) The solution would be to go dutch or take the responsibility of one friend.
You will get one dish meal for lunch which might come up to 150 to 200 plus Indian rupees.
The cakes and snacks would be something like 20 to 40 Indian rupees per piece if you want to have the cakes...
I have no idea if the prices have been revised ... so you have to check.
Would I think twice then ?
Nope I visit this place quite often though not often as I would like to due to the distance from my office.. :)
This is an ideal place to go for a tete a tete with your friend or if you just want to read or write something all by yourself with the breeze blowing and a good view to make your wheels turn... albeit slowly :)
