Mouthshut.com - Revisited
Feb 26, 2002 04:33 AM 2158 Views
(Updated Feb 26, 2002 04:33 AM)

There were times when surfing onto Mouthshut would be fun, reading reviews was joyous and the knowledgeable, informative and educative.

But gone are the days – or the reviews on products really worthwhile – one could read about travel destinations all around the world, products like computers, WAP phones, mobiles, beauty products and opinions on subjects like stress, giving up smoking etc, to cite the few. These days and all you can read about Is the Bollywood films, Indian eateries, or travel to the Indian cities. The controversial content,

The exchange of comments and the resultant M2M e-mails seem to have evaporated.

Mouthshut was attracting a large global membership from the USA, Canada, and the UK, and those members actively contributed and helped to popularise the site within a very short span of time. The Indian members, of course felt overshadowed and unable to compete and attribute.  Then

Suddenly a review by divya “Beware of the E-refugees” appears, pleading “This is my request to the all the Indian members of this site, please be careful of these new members from E-pinion. They are like a Refugee and should be treated like Refugee. There should be all together totally different Terms and Policy for this new Refugee on Mouthshut .Let us(Indian members) be united and join hands to fight against these members by writing more reviews on Indian Product so that people of India directly benefit from it.”

Yes Divya your wish is fulfilled – the so called “refugee” foreign members have left the site- but unfortunately even the good Indian writers like Amrita, Venchasa, Asysis, Raghav, Jilmil to name the few, seem to have drifted away.

Whilst Mouthshut site is now  more attractive, with its beautiful graphics, set up and the layout, the zing and fervour from the reviews has totally vanished, the contents level is virtually nil and the attraction to the products reviewed is virtually non-existent.

The “compulsive habit” or the “addiction” to log onto Mouthshut.com appears to have died out- that spirit needs reviving so that Mouthshut can flourish more.
