Plus:
server has had very low downtime and site is hardly down.
Unlimited bandwidth will save a you a lot of money and it is good.
Minus:
"I think" no htaccess is allowed on shared webhosting. So you cannot install many of the top CMS(content management systems).
Recently they removed'FREE email' given along with webhosting which most service providers provide free. Their charges for email inspite of you owning the domain are exhorbitant. During annual renewing the free email facility was removed without information.
Their customer support have hardly any knowledge to help or just are not helpful at all. They could not help me even set up a subdomain! Many of their answers are just like recorded repeats making no sense.
Datebase charge is high.
net4 site speed is good, uptime is good. Customer support. phone line keeps ringing and billing you since you will be connected to automatic call. tickets are automatic replies or people who do not know ABCD of webhosting. They cant even create subdomains. you have to pay separate for emails even if you have the hosting and domain with them and the charges for emails are very high. These people do not allow change of .htaccess.
Yahoo India business Webhosting(taken just recently)
Plus
Lots of goodies like unlimited bandwidth, 1000 of email ids, sub domains, etc.
Good for small site.
Minus
Theydo not allow .htaccess upload and some server setting that are aminimum requirement for working of top CMS like Drupal. Even theirsystems as of now do not seem to match the minimum requirement fordrupal, Joomla, etc. as of now.
I bought hosting mainly forhosting Drupal because my website on net4 was not supporting php, butafter buying it is too late to understand that Yahoo does not havingthe latest or recommended requirements of Drupal. So now I have tosearch for a host who give allow to change .htaccess or where Drupalwill work.
If the person who used yahoo india hosting felt better after using net4. it is not surprising because for what we expected out of the yahoo brand name, what we get from their hosting is just disappointment. just like what they say it is meant only for small business meaning I think static websites only. I have had a bad experience just after taking yahoo hosting just a few days before. Top content mangement systems and forums like drupal, phpbb, vbullentin and which all I dont know. just wont work or have problem working as yahoo does not allow changes or access to certain important file like .htaccess, php.ini, etc. I could not install even forums like simplemachine.
I fell for the cheap price and more for the yahoo brand name,but I am totally disappointed and I really am still wondering if there is any CMS that will work with yahoo india hosting. I bought this hosting hoping to create a dynamic website, but I am really not sure which one is going to work as the top and famous ones I tried have not worked. If anyone knows any CMS that is working on yahoo india hosting please do inform.
Lesson learnt: Jumping for saving money through freebies is good if you are doing a small static site. If you are really serious and want to do a big dynamic website, you got to check into the minutest details. details of what does not work on which server. because nobody is really gonna tell what will NOT work on their server.
