I am an impulsive buyer and doer. When I was buying things for my place like
Refrigerator or TV or Washing Machine et al, or When I wanted to visit a place
or choose amongst flights, I always either went by my instinct or by the most
convenient process where I do not have to do comparison between products. I am
just not cut out to do that kind of sorting considering I am hopelessly
restless. And that is why you will rarely see me rating any product/service,
now few others: do not again give that stare.
Ok. So I did it finally and got myself pampered with a permanent Tattoo. Now,
many will disagree saying how can that be a subject of being pampered as the
process would have taken the sh!t out of me. Well, yes it indeed was hurting
but it wasn’t awfully agonizing. It was as good as taking an injection, only a
continuous and lengthy one.
How it all began?
I have been using temporary stickers(no, not the boomer
ones) as tattoo for quite some time now and was happy doing it. A permanent one
was never in my scheme of things or in any sort of "blah-blah things to do
before blah-blah"
So, when I got the impulse to go for a permanent one I told
couple of friends and they advised me to consult few others who have done that.
Much to my dismay, I did ask and spent some time on Google and related sites.
After 3 days of extensive search and 10 to 12 calls later, I zeroed in on a
place and fixed appointment only to be informed a day in advance that the
person is going out of station and my appointment needs to be rescheduled. Now
what do I say to that? I spend so much time and at the end of it I am told to
do it later. But I was mentally prepared and was all set to go for it. So, I
called Just Dial services and asked for numbers of few permanent tattoo makers
in and around my area. I chose 2 randomly depending upon the distance from my
house and called them. One guy did not pick up. The other one picked up and I
asked for an appointment straightaway. He was quite puzzled as I did not ask
for any details and wanted just an appointment. He had a free slot. He again
asked me whether I want to know other details. All I said I will check for your
certification tomorrow when I come, right now I just want an appointment. So there
was I next day at the appointed hour. My best friend joined me as I was with
her last year when she had a cupid done on her back. The lady had screamed like
a dying fox and I had to stuff my handkerchief in her mouth, and later I had
fun telling all our friends about it. So this was time for her to take revenge.
She could not miss this chance at any cost.
It’s happening
finally.
I had couple of designs in my mind, the usual one which the
lady politely rejected. And she chose what I called an ugly dragon. I had
chosen the cupid for her so it was her go. So, a dragon it was.
Puneet, the tattoo maker and my karta dharta of those two odd hours was a huge guy with equally
huge tattoos on both his hands and on left side of his neck. I am not going to
get into the workings of the preparation. But he did give me chance to open the
new needle all by myself to assure it is new and unused. The dragon I chose was
of size 4 inch by 2 inch. That’s quite a big one in true sense. Of course the
color I chose for the body was black and for wings I went with dark blue as it
looked awesome on paper. The procedure took about 90 odd minutes. And not even
once I cried or screamed much to the disappointment of the lady. So, there was
I 2 hours later with a dragon on my left arm saying Hi to me.
However, you need to know few things before you go for it.
Like, the removal of a permanent tattoo is doubly expensive than getting it
done in the first place. And even if you get rid of it, it might leave an ugly
scar. There are few myths surrounding it. That you may fall sick, you will get
allergic reaction and so on. But they are all bull sh!t. its been 3 days now for
me and I am alive and kicking. Nonetheless, you need to take care of few things
as mentioned below.
1)
Avoid exposure to direct sun.
2) Wear cotton and do not let synthetic and nylon come in contact with it. If
wearing a synthetic/nylon cloth, put a cotton tee or cover the area tattooed
with a cotton fabric.
3) Do not put hot water. Use only cold water. If habituated of taking bath with
hot water, cover the area first.
4) Apply Neosporin ointment 4 times a day for the first three days on the tattooed
area and switch to coconut oil after 3 days.
5) After applying coconut oil first few times, observe closely. If skin gets
rashes in the surrounding area, stop using coconut oil and switch to Johnson’s
baby oil.
So, these are just few things to be kept in mind. Ah,
who says the job is over after it is done? But they are no big deal tasks and
can be followed without much difficulty.
So, I leave you now at this point making many wonder
whether to go for it or not. It’s all personal choice and given right kind of
treatment by right person, it can be quite pleasant experience. And rest
of you who are not wondering and are quite sure you will never do something
like this; come on, start admiring my tattoo at least.
