Infact I 'm good in whatever little I cook .Lemme share with all novice bachelors out there, to try some simple recipes of mine:
1) Dosas:
Dont be afraid, its not so difficult to prepare. Mix all kind of flours ,say wheat ,rice , suji /rava ,maida etc in equal proportions 'n prepare the dough by mixing it with water.Add some onions(time permit 'n with a bit of patience fry 'em ), coriander, jeera, sliced tomatoes, salt etc for that extra flavour. Now just pour 'n spread it up on the hot tava ,'n sprinkle in some oil ,'n ta dah ,therz my uttapam or dosas !!!(To be on safer side always use , non-stick tava)
2) Aloo Todphod :
This is my all time fav 'n is the most easiest of all . First cut the potatoes in right cuboidal pices.Boil some oil ,'n fry some mustard , turmeric powder, sliced up tomatoes, 'n add the potato pieces 'n fry them till they r semi charred .If u like to spice it up add some chilli powder earlier. This is a very good side dish, try it out.
3) Veg Pulav :
Another easy recipe.Just cut all the vegetables u can catch hold of 'n boil them in cooker with MTR masala powders(MTR powders r really a blessing, its avilable everywhere from blore to Chicago ) say veg pulav mix or biryani mix or whatever
.Later on mix it with rice, add some salt 'n heat/microwave it lightly , its over .Isnt that easy?
4) Tippys Sandwiches:
I am sure nobody wud 've tried this ,but believe me this is my all time fav snack. Take 2 big loafes of sandwich bread. For the first layer of the sandwich ,add in some crushed crispies , like wafers , chips/nachos etc.Smear it with jam 'n butter.Add some nuts ,'n if available some jellies 'n a layer of icecream .Believe me its quite yummy,'n do lemme know .
U can experiemnt a lot when it comes to the fillings for sandwiches, its very much left to ur ingenuity 'n when I 'm alone ,beleive me I have experimented with everything my mom has left in the fridge ,its better I dont talk of it.
5) Noodles:
How abt a bit of chineese stuff?FRy some shreddded onions(a std stuff in everything), capsicum, chillies, peas, cabbage etc 'n add soya sauce to it 'n boil it for soemtime.Later on mix it with boiled vermicilli 'n heat it for soemtime 'n add some salt .There it goes , my fast food.
6)Lemon rice:
Another damn easy recipe. Deep fry some onions, chillies , coriander, groundnut. Squeeze some lemons 'n mix it up with rice.Tasty recipes cant get easier than this, right? Oops,as usual I forgot to add salt..dont worry when u taste it u will remmeber to add some.
Isnt cooking easy? With these experimental recipes I 've somehow managed to survive so far.Hope this survival kit helps u (,if at all u r a poor cook than me.)Finally , the most messy part of the whole affair is to wash the greasy utensils. God save me from it!!!
