This category is for General Tips on Cooking. I am taking it to the next step - wrap karo phir pack karo.

All the food cooked is not eaten in the house. Some food is also taken out to be consumed later, in the office, school or some other place. This food is properly packed to ensure that it retains its taste, flavour or whatever you wish to call it. In my house, such food is first wrapped in an aluminium foil and then packed in a plastic box.

There are many brand of such foil available in the market. After trying some and being dis-satisfied with them I settled for Hindalco Freshwrapp Aluminium foil. As you all know Hindalco is a large scale firm producing aluminium. They have started a Foil Division at their factory in Silvassa. It was natural on my part to believe that foil coming out of such well-known manufacturer will be of good quality. But use of their product over a period of time has forced me to think otherwise.

Hindalco claims that the foil keeps the food home-fresh. I can not support this statement based on my experience. I can not comment on the quality of the foil as food-grade aluminium as I have not got it tested. But the quality of packing of the foil is very bad. It is so bad that it is impossible to take out a full-width foil piece from the roll. Even being extremely careful in unfolding the foil will not help. The unfolding only results in small pieces of various sizes and designs, totally useless for wrapping the intended food item.

Every morning when everybody is in a hurry and demanding their breakfast/lunch packet, my wife invariably develops high BP. The damn foil is so sticky that it does not unfold. Cursing the manufacturer she tries again and again but the result is many small pieces falling on the ground. The only alternative she is left with is to wrap the food item in a paper napkin or a piece of clean cloth. Then whole day she wonders why she has spent so much on this useless product.

So friends, Hindalco Aluminium Foil (Freshwrapp) is not a good buy. Try some other brand.
