About Test Rides
Aug 01, 2006 08:45 PM 2001 Views

Dear Bike hunters,

I have some suggestions & tips about test ride,

1> Most dealers will stock new bikes for test ride in a bid to woo people by giving them fresh, crisp feel of the bike.

2> In first place you should not test ride new bike at showrooms, some companies will take you for a real ride with shining looks and falsify their features orally.

3> Always test ride a older one either from your friend or you may request service center to give a older bike for a ride.

4> If you have zeroed in on a model, your next job is to talk to atleast 5-10 users about their experience.

5> If you are booking a new bike, thumb rule is

a> Go ahead if the bike is from reputable co.(Honda , Hero Honda & Suzuki ONLY)

b> If not I suggest you to wait for atleast two months and get users feedback and then go-ahead.

6> Read magazine reviews and not user reviews on web. Some companies have some moles on websites, they review bike in different user ids. You may also watch some TV channel reviews as well. Few honest users give frank opinion. But don't take chance by reading web user reviews. Some user claims his PULSAR-180 is giving him >60 kmpl on this very MS.

7> So to summarise, Always test ride used bike & talk to atleast 10 users. Never walk into any showroom.

8> Recently I test rided Unicorn at Haiku Honda, B'lore, he asked me to select any bike of my choice. I choose one bike(which belongs to one marketing guy, had done 7200kms).  After the test ride they handed over to me a copy of Magazine review. This speaks the honest fabric Honda wears when it comes to customer focus.

Happy Bike hunting.
