If you call Gati a courier service, I wonder what we should call others in the trade! This is worse than worst anyone can imagine about a courier service. I will share my experience.


I ordered a product from Amazon on 29 September 2014 and they informed me the product had been despatched on 30, next day. Previously, they used to send by India post. Though it took a couple of days more than it took for Bluedart and so, there was some certainty about the delivery.


And the Dussera holidays came in between so I patiently waited. But the package didn't come even after a week. So I did a tracking and was surprised to see the packet was stuck at Jharkhant for a week. For a parcel to travel from Bangalore to Kerala, only Gati know why it should go to Jharkhant! But to err is human, but why nobody noticed it or redirected the parcel the right way is something resentful. I contacted the Amazon team and they promptly responded.


The parcel started it's way south and reached Kottayam, my district headquarters on 20 October and I receive a call from Kottayam office to collect the parcel from them, some 30 km from the address. I refused and demanded delivery at the site of address. On 23 I receive another call from the Kottayam office, saying that the delivery man has started from their office and I should request him to deliver the package! Heard anything like this? They also gave me a number.


But the necessity and money is mine, so I obliged. I called him only to get the reply that, as I hadn't contacted him earlier, he had gone in a different direction! That was the end of my wits, I ring up the office again and play to them nice music. Anyway the package was delivered at 6 pm that day, 24th day it started its journey from Bangalore! In between, once I tried on their toll free number, only to wait 10 full minutes without any one attending.


The things do not stop there. I make a another order in Amazon, believing that gati will not be the courier. Because previous orders from that seller(XL Retail)  were send by India post. Unfortunately, this time also this wretched service is in game. The order was placed on 22 October, was despatched on 23 at Gurgaon, and is still there.( as on 28 October)


So, now I have decided to stop buying from Amazon as we don't have any option over the courier service. And for Amazon, this alliance with Gati is going to spell their doom in India!
