Garuda, the CDMA/WiLL technology based mobile service launched by MTNL. I believe it has the capability to give a tough fight to the 3 other players in this field in Delhi viz Airtel, Essar and Batata. But what mars Garuda is that its technology, though far better than GSM, and the way it has been marketed. MTNL was enver good at these trades. Its venture into GSM with the flag carrier Dolphin and Trump aswell failed to arouse any iota of interest in the users. The mobile set which MTNL is offering for its Garuda servies is a bulky one. So a setback for the junta seeking flashy and mod sets. But yeah, the call rate is as economic as the PSTN rates. But then the QoS is not upto mark. So has been the case with Dolphin and Trump services. MTNL, having laid up the basic telephony lines in the metropolitans Delhi and Mumbai, has the inherent capability to use its own network for maximum routing of the calls. So its QoS should be upto mark, but unfortunately its not so!!!
Though economic, but still users elude Garuda/Dolphin as long as the QoS is not increased and most important maintained.
