Before I write the review I have a personal message to convey to all MS-ians..I have my JEE exams coming up so there could be some gap till my next review..

Now to ''METAL YOUR HEADS UP''

Well till now you guys must have figured out that I am a huge metal fan and I am especially crazy about Metallica..Ever since in 1999 I had heard their Enter Sandman in MTV, one of their more popular songs from Black album , I had this desire to listen to all of their songs..It did not materialise untill the next year when my brother had brought me 3 cassettes of Metallica Viz. Ride The lightning, Black and Garage Inc. Since then I've collected each and every album that came my way along with the Live versions and now I can safely say that I own all the songs produced by metallica..

About The Album and Metallica In General

I think the music produced by metallica is always a great one...They almost always have made an impact on me...I guess nobody has the guts that metallica have shown by recording covers (What we call the remix) of their favorite bands..The problem with covers is that when it is released by other bands (No offence) the self induced originality is not shown..But Metallica have shown that they can put in a piece of themselves into the songs made by others...For example the non-metal tracks, such as Lynyrd Skynyrd's heartbroken ballad ''Tuesday's Gone,'' Blue Oyster Cult's ''Astronomy,'' and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' ''Loverman.''are made to look metal-like..

Just like any other metal band Metallica started out as a garage band. With Jason Newsted leaving the band Metallica was facing some serious problems with the Bass department. The reason cited by him was ''Metallica was sold out''...The actual reason he later admitted was that he wanted to produce a singles album which according to Kirk (lead guitarist) and Lars (Drummer) ''would weaken the band''...

With these problems staring straight into the eyes of Metallica, they released ninth album entitled Garage Inc.in 1998...This album contains all cover songs from bands back in the 70s & 80s.

I had made a list of what I appreciate about Metallica's music..and their ability to write good lyrics tops the list..Well these songs has not been written by them..So at first I thought that one point among the list needs to be canceled or atleast it needs editing but after lisening to the songs I had to add one more number to the list instead of cancelling any...Everytime I listen to them it feels like they're playing just for me.

Its a pity that none who wrote a review on Garage Inc. 2 (This is the review on Garage Inc. 1) realised that it was also a Covers album giving a tribute to their influences.

Below are the songs from the album..I've pointed out the original record and the corresponding band's name..

Track Listings

Other that the one or two good solo's this song has not much to offer. The drumming is not something that you expect from Lars. Not a great song to begin with..

Great drms by Lars.He makes up for the mistakes made in the previous song..Catchy music.A great song..

Down the highway I go

A tribute to the band that assumes the position of master and godfather of metal music..What song serves a better purpose than this epic song..

Love that little lady, always on my mind

She gives me love every night and day

Never gonna leave her, never going away

  1. Turn The Page -- 8/10

First time I heard I could have sworn that this song was from Black album..On the softer side but surely a decent one..

Die Die Die..Coolest song ever...

Die, die, die my darling

There's a devil waiting outside your door

It is bucking and braying and pawing at the floor

And he's howling with pain and crawling up the walls

Metallica at its best..

Don't touch never ever steal

Unless you are in for the kill

  1. Astronomy -- 8.5/10

Originally Recorded by Blue Oyster Cult

This song builds little by little..You might get disappointed at the casual ending of the song..

  1. Whiskey In The Jar -- 10/10

Originally Recorded by Thin Lizzy

Wow..Never realised a song like this one played by Lizzy could have been made as famous as it is now..

''Being drunk and weary I went to Molly's chamber

Takin' my money with me and I never knew the danger

Mush ring Dama Du Da Whiskey In The Jaro-aa''

  1. Tuesday's Gone -- 9.5/10

Originally Recorded by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Extremly melodious and fantabulous song..

''Train roll on, many miles from my home

See, I'm riding my blues away

Tuesday, you see, she had to be free

But somehow, I've got to carry on

Tuesday's gone with the wind

Tuesday's gone with the wind''

  1. The More I See -- 8.5/10

Originally recorded by Discharge

Not a spectacular song, but its drum beat and guitars make it pretty catchy and worth the listen..

The garage inc Vol.2 is also a covers album..
