...God!!! I guess that is one promo the serial really cracked - it became such a huge buzzword. Oh my God!!! The other strains that keep echo are ’I’ll be there for you’ and ’you gotta ride it’ - and that’s what Friends does for you - you gotta be there, watch it and be obsessed with it to ride it.
Don’t know how many times I have rushed home to catch either the 8.00 pm Zee English slot or the 8.30 or the 11 o’clock Zee English show - it doesn’t matter if it is a repeat and certainly doesn’t matter if it isn’t in sequence. What strikes home is the capturing of the pulse of the true spirit of the tweens and the crazee everyday happenings between 6 very unique people. Especially Monica - fastidious, meticulous, planned, obsessed Monica who is supreme on being wired and strung up about little things - to Phoebe with so many idiosyncrasies like Smelly Cat and of course Ursula (don’t forget Joey!!)and of course Rachelle who has transitioned from daddy’s spoilt girl to making it on her own with many of her own especially the Italian hand licker.
Of the boys who else appeals is none other than Chandler with his ready sarcastic wit and of course the way he handles sweet, hunky Joey. Ross appeals in a soppy way - which is oh so nice and oh so catty when the Rachelle or Monica situation demands. But the male female interplay was best in the poker game episode while male bonding emerges with Joey n Chandler watching Baywatch and mouthing run run run
A merry go round of the smacks?? which one do you smile at -Joey kissing Phoebe thinking she is Ursula, Chandler and Monica together, Rachelle and Ross, Ross kissing Chandler’s Mom, or the best one of all - Rachelle and Monica kissing for a whole minute to get their apartment back??
That’s on kisses - now for the misses - Ross trying for rachelle so much that she doesn’t know it, Joey trying for Monica as he moves into the apartment next door, rachele fantasising about Chandler, Ross’s wife fantasising about women in airports - oh the list goes on & on
And of course the big movie stars who appear and the set goes -oooooooooooh !! that’s a killer twist with Bruce Willis, Van Damme, Julia Roberts, George Clooney and now Kathleen Turner to come onto the serial as people just around the place.
before I end lets not forget Marcel - the monkey and Ross the bigger monkey and the naked man next door whom they keep poking at and of course the guy who lives below. And the stud guys the women never seem to fall short of
